    Default Byzantine Recruitment?

Why do the Byzantines have such a limited area from which to recruit their factional troops from? I noticed that all of their best troops can be recruited in Constantinople but nowhere else and the Thematic troops are only available in scattered regions in Asia Minor, Greece, and the Middle East.

    1. You shall have a hard time
    2. The power of the Roman Empire of the East pretty much broke down after the battle of Manzikert, what happened right before the mod starts.
    3. Byz (and other recruitment) will be changed a lot with the next version.

reasearch as shown tht much of the territorial los of the Byzantines happened AFTER Manzert. in 1072 they had the same territory as in 1070 save manzikert. what Manzikert did was destroy all the garrisons of the thematai, or reduce them to far below strength, rendering them useless. in fact the first city after manzikert toofall was in 1073AD. the turks only moved in after their leader Alp Arsalan (victor of Manzikert) was killed and replace by a bellicose ruler.

I have been playing for the Byzantine Empire for several days and maybe i do not know all the mod's features, but why where is no possibility to recriut kataphractoi and kataphractoi toxotai when the settlement grows up to huge city (when you build imperial palace)?

We changed that meanwhile! From the next version on, the Kataphraktoi and Klibanophoroi remain available!

Shouldn't there be an option to recreate the glory of the Roman Empire? Such as the ability to re-establish the Forts or a high-tier building that allows recruit of the old elites?

    what kind of old elite?
Or what do you understand under "old elite"?

The byzantine empire is the roman empire. And the units shown in our unit pool (also shown in some way by other mods) are the natural evolution of the Roman army.
The remaining Legios became equipped more and more with the spear (like the Skoutatoi in dark age) and due to the eastern enemies (strongly mounted nations) those spears became longer and the Hoplitai - fighting in the Phalanx - were deployed.
What do you want recruit? The Cohorta reformata of Marius? Or the Legio Parthica II of Gallienus - a unit which provided the militia praetoriae?
