Um its hollywood what exactly do you expect? Rich, famous people who are rich and famous for no other reason then something superficial rarely have any grasp on reality. The problem is: her INITIAL though was that "bad karma" brought the earthquake to the Chinese.
And although she reversed that opinion, it's what gets stuck in the minds of some people.

There are hundreds of millions of people on this planet who believe in the existence of karma, and believe it can led to good or bad things happening to you.
I wouldn't describe all Buddhists as lacking compassion just for believing that.

I believe in Karma too, so what? It's human nature to have sympathy toward the victims of the earthquake. Last time an Indian kid tell me it's a Karma of CCP, I just want to slap him in the face. Stupid kid.

The thing about the earthquake was that it didn't just hit to a couple of evil people.
Millions are affected and many thousands have died, surely nobody believes they could all be evil?

I think it's not about Karma but about God's punishment - after all earthquakes are "acts of God" aren't they? And the Chinese government has pissed off God's representative on Earth, the Pope, on the issue of the Chinese Catholics.

How about the above explanation for the earthquake? Can't the journalists find another dumb actor or actress, preferably a Christian fundamentalist, to say something along those lines?

I have never been able to understand this point of view.

People always, but always, end up with the government they deserve. If the government is acting in the wrong way, then it is the duty of the people to stop them.
Therefore, the Chinese people are culpable for the crimes of the Chinese government.

The point I was trying to make is that she does in fact have a very high IQ but of course that does not prevent anyone from saying something stupid when a mic is shoved under your nose.

Its even more stupid that we are even discussing what she said, then again I am not as I am commenting on this thread which seems to reflect the general publics fascination with celebrities.
