    Default Factors affecting battlefield morale

Is there a detailed breakdown anywhere of battle field morale?
For example, how close does your general have to be to bolster the troops, how much does it help a unit to have allies on its flanks, how much effect do cannons/scary units/elephants have, how much impact does hitting enemies on the flanks/rear have?
    How about fatigue/walls/elevation?
    Etc.

    Any definitive guides to this?

I remember some of the things, for example rear attack gives -1 morale, also routing of allied unit gives -1, I think that opponent general's dread traits also lower down the morale, but I'm not sure is that -1 morale for each skull or it's less.I know that number of chevrons also give some morale bonus so as the alied general's traits like brave etc. Death of enemie's general give you morale booster but death of allied general gives you morale penalty. There are many factors that affects moral so it would be nice to have a complet list.

Chivalry adds a lot of morale, dread reduces enemy morale.

Proximity of your General or Captain to your units adds quite a bit of morale.

Whether or not your troops are outnumbered. Being flanked from the sides gives a big morale penalty, from the rear is even worse.

Winning a battle increases morale, losing one drops morale.

    Command level increases morale

Special General traits may add or reduce morale.

Certain weapons or units cause fear, such as muskets. Flaming arrows reduce morale, and all other fire salvos.

Each unit that is killed reduces morale, enemy charging at you can reduce morale, especially if it's cavalry or warriors that are scary, like most Danish infantry.

All the things you've mentioned make a pretty big impact I'd say. But it depends on the units and their experience. Numbers are good, how tired the units are, the formation itself is important, even altitude can help.

    Thanks
This all sounds very reasonable, but I was really hoping for a detailed list of all the factors and their affects.
I seem to remember seeing something like this for Shogun TW, and with all the very capable modders poking around with the files and codes I would guess that there must be something similar for M:TW

Is there really no detailed breakdown of morale factors in existance?

Considering what a major role it plays in combat I thought for sure someone would have done a study on it.

Is the rally ability a morale raiser? I used rally ability many times near my retreating troops, no effect.

Try using the horn before they break. And perhaps move the general towards the shaky units if possible.
