Is something wrong with my PC?

Hi, first of all I have no clue where to post this, so if it is placed wrong could someone please move it.
I'm thinking that it's something wrong with my computer. With all settings on low or off I can have about 4000 men on the battlefield.

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3600+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~1.9GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Hard Drive: 244 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7100 GS


This is my computer, and the reason I'm askin is because a friend of mine have about the same computer except that he only have 1 gb ram, and he play with MUCH better graphics than me and dont even lower them with 4000 men on the battlefield.
I've never really thought about it before since I havent had a game to compare with. And if I'm going to upgrade my PC what should i upgrade? I have the latest driver for my graphics card, I'm not that far out.
If you want to I can post a pic with my the settings I use, compared to the autodetect.

The upper one is what i use and the lower one is autodetect and also what my friend uses. I have to reduce the upper one with more than 2500 men on the battlefield

If you read the specs for this game, it is low end for everything except memory. 2gigs will keep it humming.

You could probably move your vid-card into the 8 series, I have a 7 myself and it won't run most modern games on anything higher than low. So you should upgrade if possible, I'm not good enough with processors to say anything about that. But 2 gig memory is enough.

Well, the thing is, my friend has GeForce 7100 aswell, but he might have a better processor. I'll ask him when I get a chance.

Edit: does anyone know about a good vid card for about 88€ or 138 USD?

Check what services of Xp run on background. I found if a disable the xp services who i don't need in that moment my pc becomes faster. You need almost 15 services.
A very good card in 85 euro is ''GAINWARD 9030 BLISS 8600GT 512MB PCI-E RETAIL''.
in 140 euro you can buy also ''GAINWARD 9245 BLISS 9600GT 512MB PCI-E RETAIL''.

The 7100 is terribly slow no matter what you do.

I would change:
- Unit Detail to LOW
- Vegetation Detail to LOW
- Grass Detail to LOW
- Effects Detail to MEDIUM (or HIGH if you wish)

The game still looks good like that IMO.

By the way, I'm sporting a 6200 which is pretty outdated, but I can still play the game rather well and smoothly.

its probably because of the processor , minima for mtw2 is 1.8 ghz and recommend is 2.4 or something like that..

After some browsing i found NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT pretty cheap (under 80€ just cant be bothered to calculate the price in €) would that make any difference to my game? And I'm also able to play it on a crappy old Dell with 3 ghz and 512 mb ram. Wouldn't a 1.9ghz duo processor = 3.8ghz? I doubt that my computer is worse than the dell

Since this game does not use both processors, it's a 1.9gh. This game came out before dual processors and the hardcode will never be rewritten for it.

7100 is a very weak GPU for this game, also your cpu is not realy very powerfull..

I recommend a 4800 dual core at least and a 8600GT or better

Better GPU and it will become playable.
You may want to check on your motherboard specs before upgrading anything, to be sure it's compatible (eg you have PCI-E and not AGP).

Dont worry I've checked and I have PCI-E. Is it difficult to change the processor? The GPU is no problem, helped a friend of mine change his.
