It's all but certain that Obama is gonna be the democratic nominee. Any good ideas on who should be his VP?

Perfect for him, he has the advantages Obama needs:
1. Experience without being in Washington. He was CENTCOM CiC so he knows about Iraq and Afghanistan and has experience working with foreign leaders. Yet he is not a Washington insider so he doesn't screw up the change he needs.
2. He has cred in the military and veterans which form a large voting demographic that he should try to put into play.
3. He is a moderate so likely to help win independents.

why not wesley clark
1. U.S. General, lotso f military and foreign policy experience
2. Hillary Clinton supporter, olive branch to her without putting her on the ticket
Yes please Obama pick one of those...both would assure Mccain's election. Sorry but Clark is just a whacko and a flake and would crumble in seconds from all the holes in his statement. Generally picking a man who was anti Iraqi war because he felt personally slighted then real opposition is a bad idea for an anti war person like Obama. After all do you really want a man a heart beat away from the Presidency who almost started an armed conflict between NATO and Russia for pure personal ego?
Collin Powell or John Edwards.

Zinni would be a good bet, but Jim Webb is the dark horse in this little race.
don't be shocked if Hillary is offered SecState

'Killing is Negotiating' A militiaman in 'Blackhawk Down'
Wesley Clark has less cred than Zinni, and the Pristina Airport incident (where he almost caused WWIII) can be brought up.
Also, having Clark as Obama's VP may have old Schwarzkopf saying a thing or two about him. It seems Stormin Norman and Clark don't get along well.

...especially when those "Indians from Balkan" shoot down your "invisible" airplane with practically their bare hands and make you waste expensive tomahawks on their dummy carboard tanks (while preserving 80% of the real ones intact).
Couldn't agree more with Hackworth and Schwarzkopf.....
Anyway, a q if I may:
Howmany of the people mentioned here (besides Clark) can be seen as "Clinton people"? Are Holbrooke and Albright in the picture?
Not insulting the Serbians, just you don't get famous fighting a war against a country 1/10th your size leading the strongest alliance in the world. You need a big enemy for that.
And I didn't say Webb was a child molestor, nor did I say I don't think he's a good man. I'm just saying what his opponents on the far right will do to him.

Chuck Hagel has been criticizing McCain recently, theres some speculation that Obama might reach across party lines and choose the republican senator, mr. hagel, as his VP.
that'd be interesting.
All these people are either military people or senators though, i tend to think Obama will want someone with a lot of practical governing experience.
i hear Obama has Arnold Schwarzenegger on his list too
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalra...-says-hed.htmlABC's Sunlen Miller Reports: Barack Obama has often said he'd consider putting Republicans in his cabinet and even bandied about names like Sens. Dick Lugar and Chuck Hagel. He's a added a new name to the list of possible Republicans cabinet members - Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Hagel i could see, but Arnold turning on the republicans?
point taken, personally i think obama needs someone with governing experience so that would discount jim webb, wes clark, zinni, even hillary clinton.
Colin Powell wont, hes had many chances to run for political office and hes turned them all down.
Powell won't run.
There are no Democratic governors that really excite me. Bobby Jindal, Charlie Crist and Tom Pawlenty all look good but they are Republicans.
Hound: Webb has too much baggage with his book. Stupid? Yes. But it may still hurt Obama.

Edwards lost to Cheney and Gore lost to Bush. Nuff said.

Wesley Clark while a good Military Commander has no experience in being a governor just like Edwards Hillary Etc. I do like his views on alot of issues.
