    Default Any Byz skins compatible w/ SS 6.1?

    As you can tell, I'm not too crazy about the skins for the Byz armies, especially the head gear. They are probably historically more accurate, but they're just not as cool as the ones used back in SS 4.1.

    Anybody know where I can find some Byz skins that will work with SS 6.1?

    As Ificratis' 2nd link points to, a complete overhaul of the unit roster for Byzantium is in the works. Patience my young padawan.

    Hmm... That unit roster is actually kinda disturbing... It seems that the Byz roster should be full of javelineers with less archery. Instead, I don't think we have a single javelin-throwing unit...

    There is a "real roster" my friends(2 infantry javelinears and one mounted one)...That how realy was!
    Imperial guards,accurate varangians,acritae border guards,gasmouloi etc are some you must be expect from it!
    TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
    Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

    IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.

    compatible with SS? I just ask because i donīt have modding experience, so a fool-proof mini mod would really do the trick

    Will it stay within exisiting EDU unit limits for the faction? (otherwise shoe-horning it into SS will involve removing other units.)

    How are you dealing with mercenaries and auxilliaries - do you think they should be part of the default byzantine roster or available locally in certain areas (for local auxs or in Constantinople for mercs / loan troops from further away?) Given that the Byzantines relied heavily on non domestic troops, one would expect the basic "roster" to be supplemented by a wide variety of extras.

    From my reading I've discovered that the Mongols loaned the Byzantines substantial numbers of men (don't know unit types) when they were in alliance with them. No idea how you work that in as I don't believe the council of nobles can grant you units outside your existing roster? (as reward for forming an alliance) unless you make Mongol troops available as very cheap mercs after a Mongol - Byz Alliance event?

    (Reading: can recommend not only Ian Heath's "Byzantine armies 1118-1461" (Osprey) for illus and summary of aux/mercs, but also David Nicolle's "Companion to Medieval Arms and Armour" as that has 3 chapters on Byzantine a&a and plentiful contemporary illus.)

    Yes. Thankfully the Byzantine roster is comprised of almost all units unique to the Byzantines, so we have a lot of room to play with.

    The aim of this mod isn't to cater to any one single mod. It's goal is to create a whole bunch of units that are historically accurate as possible and then let mod creators decide on which ones they want to use within their mods.

    Anthonius can give more details about this, but personally I would would advocate that they should be a part of the default roster. If you limit recruitment of units to certain regions, then you are basically gimping the AI: you can't tell the AI "hey, you need to conquer Trebizond to get those cool archers". You can set up new buildings (eg Mercenary Barracks) to make recruiting those units a little more distinct.

    Not that I am aware of, but again Anthonius can comment on this more than I can. I'm a relative newcomer to the team.

    Trust me, from what I've seen Anthonius and others have done a LOT of research into this.

    I am afraid the version for SS will be inside the unit roster limitation...
    It a full functioning mod and it would be unrealistic to try to change the hole mod for a faction(maybe the next release)...
    But the roster will have historicaly based changes(Acritae or Gasmouloi units for examble),more accurate shileds or helmets were it is nesesary!
    As a mod Complete Byzantine Unit Roster will act like CC said as a "supermarket"of accurate units and we will let the mod leaders deside the number of those(and their reforms)they wish to add(always under our counsil od historical accuracy)...
    An examble...Castrophilakae in a new mod should be reqruited by an addministration building but in the 1st version they will replace byz.infantry!
    Byz.infantry will be present by two simmilar units(swordmen and spearmen) the ones who called Scoutati(shield barriers)!
    Soon in our thread will be some images of the "new"units for the public to see!SOON!
