Renaming Factions

How exactly would you go about renaming a faction? As it is I want to rename the Templars in Stainless Steel as 'Crusaders' or something (I would remove them entirely, but that seems a bit ambitious to me - I'm very new to modding )

You could change their entries in the data\text\expanded.txt file. Example:

{PAPAL_STATES}The Holy See

Only change the RED part of the entry!

Out of interest, just how difficult would it be to replace a faction with a new one? I imagine it would be a lot of work.... (obviously I wouldn't try to make my own skins and stuff, I'd use some from another source)

If you want to entirely change a faction you'll have to delete it from all the files where it is mentionned.

The easiest way (and all modders use it I think) is to rename it and to change its caracteristics (colors, units etc)
