I am expecting eggs and rotten tomatoes to fly at me any moment, cause this topic was probably discussed and re-discussed in this forum (and other TW forums), but I made a quick search on twc, found nothing, and decided to give it a try ...

Just found that in vanilla RTW an army of rebels would appear in a Roman city with Spartacus as general. The army was mentioned as pretty strong one and difficult to beat. Conditions of this revolt includes building of an Arena and Colloseum.

Did anybody experienced this particular revolt in vanilla RTW. Worth pursuing? And, I wonder if this feature was preserved in XGM?

AFAIK its' been turned off but it might be possible to restore it from descr_strat.txt although I have no idea if and how it will work since we changed quite a few units from vanilla...

It's switched off in XGM, and IIRC it's bugged in RTW 1.5/1.6. The army spawns with all sorts of weird rebel units including (!) Yubsteb Elephants.

@ all. I see. Thanks for the info. It's a bit sad. At the same time, I can always try to set up a custom historical battle with an army of (crappy) infantry, skirmishers, some (crappy) light cavalry, and a few elite gladiator units. I'll place them on a mountain (Vesuvius) and will try to outplay a decent Roman army. I know a perfect battlefield for that. Could be fun

P.S. Yubsteb Elephants? Oh, God. I wonder if there were any rebel flaming pigs or dogs, tired of their masters :hmmm:

Aw, I thought this thread concerned me for a few fleeting, glorious seconds...
