So I tried Gold 0.7 with a steam download and it when it runs the TE.bat file and error message comes up and says connot find steam.

It seems as though I might be out of luck because I bought this game via steam. Although i got 5.1 and ferres roman reskin to work.

Go to TE Gold icon, right click onto properties and look at the target, for mine via ALEX it is:

    "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-ALX.exe" -mod:terrae_expugnandae -show_err -nm -noalexander

Yours should be either Activision or Creative Assembly, but needs the show err in it,so we can check to help you. Mine is different as using ALEX.exe, not RTW.exe.

You probably used the desktop shortcut to start the mod.

Instead, launch it directly from Steam by adding some launch parameters.
    The process is this:

    1. Right click on the game's name
    2. Properties
    3. Set Launch Options...
    4. Copy and paste this in the text field: Code:
      -mod:terrae_expugnandae -nm -show_err -movie_cam -enable_editor

Still says failed to find steam, my path is...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold...

    is this correct?

Current (Fed 11, 2018) GameFront (formerly FileFront) download link:
    http://www.gamefront.com/downloads/t...nandae-gold-o7

I have the game on Steam and the mod's installer is not detecting the Rome install location correctly.
If you are have this issue (Steam or not) then you'll need to set the install path manually.

For most Steam users this will be:
    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\

Or if you are running 64-bit Windows:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\

Of course if you have the game install elsewhere then of course you'll need to install to that directory.
The mod shortcut on the desktop should work as well to launch.

    Enjoy!

Really enjoying this mod. Playing as Germania, and the Romans really have tunnel vision in this mod attacking me relentlessly.

I have noticed, though, that spears seem to be very weak against cavalry. Anyone else agree?

Yes, cavalry is overpowered, but that is true of RTW in general, not just this mod. Also, the Germans dont have the longer pikes and sarrisa's like the Greeks so they are not as effective. Try charging into a Macedonian Pike phalanx with cav and see what happens.
