Default Giving Regions to Allies etc.

How in bloody hell do you do it? I keep reading how people are like "I gave away such and such to my allies and they happily accepted".

I try and meddle in the politics of the world when I play as Rome, to keep the balance of powers in Greece, or too help a friend in need. Also, in my Greek campaign I am allied with Syracuse who was completely wiped off Sicily by the Carthaginians and pushed to Melite. Now I sent a sizeable Army to Sicily and the Syrucasean managed to take back Syracuse before I arrived. However they were weak afterward. So I say, I'm not letting any damned Carthaginians beat back my Hellinistic ally and I conquer all of Sicily minus Syracuse itself (and Im seiging the last city of Lilybaum right now). But gods in heaven everytime I try and give a damn town to the Syracuseans I get the same bloody reply. The same thing happens all the time no matter who I am and who I try and give it to!! I tried a similar thing in Iberia as the Romans, attempted to give regions back to the Iberians after helping them as they were my allies, against the Carthaginians. So what in the world do I do to get them to accept these freaking regions? Any help would be massively appreciated! Thanks and great great mod.

    Captain,

The way i give regions to my allies is by making a trade. For instance, i usually find that if i ask them for their map and give them a region in exchange, usually if you have been feeding them money they will accept this.

However, if you just try to give them something for nothing, they often say "we have nothing to give you in return" and reject the deal.

So try making it look like they are giving you something in exchange for the region.

By the way, the ai seems to have no memory of your friendship. You may be doing all these favours for Syracuse but they will attack you in the end.

Unfortunately the ai diplomacy is probably the worst aspect of the original game and beause its hard coded cannot be amended.

Hmm been along time since I gave away a region to allies to creat a buffer zone. From what I recall the only way I was able to make it work in the trade menu is, you got to make sure to press the gift option for it to work.

Give them the region as a gift with 10,000 Denarii. They'll always accept that.

Props to Brusilov for that trick.

Giving them gold never works with me. They say The payment is only as good as the giver and the reject it. (even when we are allies)

Making it a gift usually works for me.. the few times when it doesn't I just ask for their map in return and then they happily accepts.

I know I overdid the userbars..

Also remember that (not using the FD script) if you offer something and the AI declines, they will decline every offer you make after until the next turn, regardless of what it is.

Only dream I ever have. Is it the surface of the Sun?
Everytime I shut my eyes, it's always the same.

Even if I offer it as a gift they refuse.

Pherhaps 150000 denarii is to much

Well I got the Force Diplomacy thing but Im going to try some of these other suggestions first. It's not so much that Im trying to create a buffer, Ive no interest in Sicily and Im far more interested in having Syracuse rule there than Carthage.

the Force Diplomacy script is great, use it.
but if you don't want to, then there is something about that retarded AI!!!
giving a settlement: if you give it as a gift, it is refused (go figure!!!), so i usually sell it for 1000 bucks.
giving money: i have no problem giving up to 50,000 and being accepted, but more than that, the AI refuses it (now who in the hell refuses money???)
as far as map info is concerned, if the faction did not make any progress or changes (gaining or losing a province), then the answer is always the same "we have nothing to offer in return".

In my Gaul campaign I gave the Armenians 200.000 Denarii so that they can beat back the big grey monster, and they accepted
