    Default Governors

IIRC, in vanilla M2TW, the general with highest Piety in the settlement becomes the Governor. I'm now playing the Crusaders campaign (Jerusalem) and I can see that it doesn't always work that way. I'm having a governor with Piety lower than the other generals inside, causing more unrest.

Did the CA change it for Kingdoms (or with the latest patch)? If so, what is the criteria for becoming a Governor?

I thought that the computer automatically assigns the general with the best tax gathering ability to the task.

Sometimes it seems that the computer picks the worst man for the job.

Did you check their leading ability (stars)?

I did. The governor in question does not have the most command stars. He does have more chivalry than others, but in the other settlement I have the governor who is most pious, and not most chivalrious...

I think it may be random and weird... I was paying attention to that earlier. I had one general in charge, then someone attacked the city, and his father has been in charge since. I have no idea what changed.

I always thought it was simply the general who has been in the settlement the longest, but it could very well be randomly assigned.
