Default Does this mod work with Steam version?

Hi there... I have the retail version of Medieval 2 but I am thinking about getting the Steam version because my disc is far far away and I want to play this.

Does everything work correctly with the Steam version? I ask because it seems with Steam games it is hard to access the files....

I seem to recall people having problems with the steam copy, if yuo search the forum Im sure you will get the threads, not sure if there was an answer to their problems over than "buy the retail copy".

6.1 should not cause any problem, instead of the desktop shortcut you have to use the mtw2 launcher. However, its better to buy it in the shop... who knows what other problems will the steam ver have...

i use steam version and it's been fine.
On your PC, the units seem to perform quite poorly. I think there might be something nearby the PC that is causing this problem for you. You may need a mirror to find out what it is.

I posted the registry command that creates the launcher option for you in steam, do a search please and you'll probably track it down.

I run SS 6.1 via steam just fine.

And i've incorporated those registry keys to the 6.1 installer, making the search not needed.

ok, I'm having trouble with getting Stainless Steel 6.1 to work with Steam. I downloaded and installed 6.0 parts 1 and 2 and the installed the 6.1 patch. After that, I went into the launch options and set it to: @Stainless_Steel_Kingdoms.cfg. Then, since the game wouldn't run (meaning it instantly crashed back to desktop), I took the Launcher and put it back in the main folder alongside the medieval 2 and kingdoms icons, since I'd previously had it configured so that the kingdoms icon was renamed Launcher and the actual Launcher icon was segregated into a different sub-folder. Still, the same basic result occurs with a message saying that steam has encountered a fatal error and must exit the game when I launch the game through the Stainless Steel entry in the actual Launcher. Could this problem have something to do with possible fragments of past mods, DLV, Broken Crescent, and a previous failed attempt at installing the same version of Stainless Steel 6.1? Or is it yet another Steam issue?

Ok somehow I've gotten the mod to work from the launcher, I simply removed everything from the launch options in steam and then just launched it from the game Launcher. Weird.
