Which Faction gave you the best play-through?

Instead of asking what your favorite faction is, I'd rather ask which Faction gave you your best campaign to date. I myself like the Byzantines the most, but have to admit that my Moorish campaign unexpectedly was my best. I'm not so big on having weak cavalry and so many spear units but the position, faction colors, and the late appearing Camel Gunners made for a very intriguing experience. Moorish camel musketeers running rampant accross Deutchland? Crazy. I don't remember ever having any respectable heavy cavalry though, wich made for a very different battle style.

the turks were a lot of fun. You never really get a defensive sword unit but the spears make up for it. Plus you can rake in the cash when you take over the holy lands. Your also in the middle of everything, crusades, jihads, mongols, timurids. And of course you get to beat the daylights out of the Byzantines. janissary infantry are good too.

Venice was fun for me
especially when you have a puppet pope and the unity of the catholic nations goes to pieces

the most fun thing to do is to wage war in a straight line, like from Rennes to Riga, all of the coastal towns.

I love venice, the pavise crossbow militias, and the musketeer are the best.
and In my opinion the Venetian heavy infantry kicks the hell out of any armored footsoldier if used well.

And not to forget the Italian spear militia with the carrocio standard, which I can defend any town against any size army besieges me.

Byzantines because there are so many possibilities.
I have played trough two Byzantium campaigns. The first was the no-brainer e.g. ally with Catholics and take the Muslim lands.
I decided to play the Byzies again since I liked the campaign. Last time however I allied with the Muslims and invaded Italy, Hungary, Spain and France.
It was challenging against all that heavy cavarly with crappy spear units, horse archers were useless agaisnt upgraded armor.
Very entertaining campaign!

Venice has so many possibilities that it makes it a really fun campaign with so much replayability. Tackling the Byzantines in the early era where they are still a powerhouse is quite a challenge and developing a Mediterranean trading empire is way more fun than it sounds.

Nothing quite says eat dirt like landing a few stacks of Musketeers and Venetian heavies in your enemy's capital and turning it into your next colony.

Egypt. Sucky roster, but some memorable fights with the mongols and I even got to the Americas with them! It was like the second campaign I ever played on M2TW, hence quite memorable.

BC counts to? Ah well Im sorry miraj, I would love to suck up to u and say that the khwarezm shah was my favourite but DLV's Novgorod was the best, even tho it had an unfixable ctd after 60 years or so.

To my annoyance, my best campaign was with france.
Why is not really something i know. it just turned out like that.

I would say Turks. Rempaging through the Steppes giving the Beatdown to the Russians. Into Europe to give the Beatdown on whoever is in my way. Hell I killed 4 Mongol heads before the took anything.

I've enjoyed my Spanish campaign most. VH/VH on the retrofit mod at 0.50 speed. Really enjoyable. I sent my princess to open trades with various countries, then when her charm was up, I made a marriage alliance with France and just consolidated my position in the Iberian peninsula, usingly Jinetes, Mailed Knights and those Algumarhrsblahblah fancy javelin throwers. Took over N. Africa, crusaded over to Egypt, and thats when things got really tricky. I sent in a single full army with my best troops, and the Egyptians outnumbered me insanely. I somehow managed to fight three consecutive heroic victories (Jinetes are miracle workers). When I got the Knights of Santiago and access to Sword and Buckler men, I took over the rest of Egypt and had some really rough religious wars.

I love the unit progression of Spain, because no matter how far in you are, Jinetes make such wonderful units. Spain's units are also kind of nice to look at, especially Knights of Santiago, Tercio Pikemen and Sword and Bucklers.

It's just a really wonderful campaign. Spain has a very solid unit base, very versatile, excellent position. You have so many options for expansion, the Iberian peninsula, N. Africa, France, or what have you, and later game you have access to Musketeers, Conquistadors, a nice navy, and of course, the best position to go after the Aztecs.

Whether you like hit and run skirmishing, or just old school infantry and cavalry attacks, you can use Spain. Their high mobility means you don't have to worry so much about enemy archers as you can just run them down.

England(vanilla) was my most memorable campaign. Longbowmen, longbowmen and longbowmen. At one time, just to have some fun I actually took down a pretty advanced full stack HRE army with an army composed of eight yeoman archers, four heavy inf., two mercenary spear, four(1-2 silver) cav and one general. never even needed my infantry and cav just for mop up duty. Epic battle!!!

BTW I conquered the entire world with a few turns to spare.

Russians I must say, they give you a pleasure to fight against both Mongols and Timurids and you can engage in Europe and in Asia as well. I realy enjoy playing with them, they have awsome units, terrible starting position, rough neighbours and everything else that make the game interessting.
