    Default The Cronicles Of The Valerian Empire

    Well I have no moding skills. I can't moddel, skin, map, etc. What I do have is a somewhat productive imagination. And I have cooked up this world in my mind for the past few wees and I thought it would make an interesting TW mod. So read and provide feedback.

    Introduction

    Founded by Arthur Valerius the Velerian Empire has ruled unrivaled for 150 years scince the fall of the Vinci Republic.
    The merchants have grown rich.
    The nobles have grown powerfull.
    The people have grow happy.

    However disaster has struck the Empire. The last Emperor, Francis, has died and left no heir. Thus the once powerfull and mighty Valerian Empire is now torn by civil war. Four waring factions claim the high trone for themselves but only one will survive.

    The Fations

    The House of Tristian

    Jonathan Tristian belives to be a true living descendant of the Valerian family by marriage and is determined to make everyone else think the same way. By any means necessary. He has ralied the highest and finest nobles in the land to his cause. None the less there is no large number of fine nobles thus he has to make good use of the few men he has to tip the scales to his side.
    • Very few men per unit but extremely effective fighters all of them;
    • Starts with very large fortune but no standing army.
    House Drakul

    Tristian is not the only nobleman with claims to the Silver Throne. Erik Drakul shares the same desire. Even if not the same means and support.
    The nobles that have chosen to join him are the often refered to as "the lesser nobility" eager to make a name for themselves no mater what. Even still these are not enought people to make a real fighting force so he has decided to enlist the aid of a former enemy of the empire. The barbarians of the Southern Mountains. They have been cast aside and chased down by past emperors but Erik has offered amnisty and promissed land is they will fight for him.

    Features:
    • Weaker and more numerous than Tristian's forces
    • Use of savage mountain barbarians
    • Starts with a medium tresury and a standing army
    The Imperial Trading Syndicate

    Seeing their profits theatend by civil war the trading Guilds of the Valerian Empire have united to form The Impirial Trading Syndicate. Backed by a seemingly endless fortune the Syndicate has draw exclusive contracts with all of the empire's mercenary companies wich provide the bulk of the Trader forces.
    They control the entire Imperial coast and the very rich Analog Archipelago from wich they draw most of their profits.

    Features:
    • Imense amounts of money (we hope you won't be short troughout the campaign):
    • Dependant on mercenaries;
    • Has to build mercenary camps to acess their units;

    The Popular Union

    This war has lead the peasents of the Arthurian Empire to utter misery. And so they did what discontent peasents allways do they rebel. Under the liedership of Abel von Manstein, a kind hearted high noble, the peasents now have some form of organized army rather than being just your everyday rabble. Even though he does not need to be reminded his betrayal of the House of Tristian means that if he ever get caught alive by any one faction he will be tortured and executed. That is what he says to himself every day "Sucsses is my only option failure is not"
    The union seekes to overthow the imperial sistem and install a republic in it's palce.
    The Popular army is nothing more than farmers and other commoners who have no knoledge of war, and a few knights that have chosen to join this movement.

    Features:
    • Very, very numerous, but not good at all so they must use guerrila tactics to win;
    • Has no money. But doesn't need any. New members will join the union every 2 or 3 turns.

    Mod Features
    • Completly new map;
    • Barbarians;
    • No adoptions;
    • No mercenaries (they are allready working for The Syndicate)
    • 1 turn per month over the course of 16 years;
    • Cities,castles, villages, ect do not grow over time. The population will increase to a certain point then stop.

    The Mercenay Contract

    The Mercenary Contract is the most valuable asset in the Trading Syndicate's posession and can also be that same thing to the other factions.

    The Contract is a piece of perchement signed by all the leaders of the mercenary companies of the Velerian Empire granting exlusive acess to the oner of said contract.
    It will start in a moblie transpor unit (wagon) in the Syndicate's capital. Whithout this contract being in their possesion they will be limited to recruiting only 3 different, not to strong, units as their acess to mercenaries will be removed.
    The contract changes hands when someone defeats it's guardions in a battle and the contract's ownership is passed to the faction wich defeated the guardions.
    Loosing the Contract will in one turn disband all mercenaries. Wich could leave a full stack with just a few hundred men so keep the Contract safe as loosing it will mean the loss of massive military forces.
    The contract can be destroyed if the wagon is destroyed in battle or if the unit is disbanded. This will enable mercenaries to all factions.

    Important characters

    These are characters that you are going to have to keep alive during the durarion of the campaign. These will be the faction leaders for The House of Tristian (Jonathan Tristian), House Drakul (Erik Drakul) and for The Popular Union (Abel von Manstein).
    The Imperial Trading Syndicate is not ruled by a single authoritary figure and thus they have no one they have to keep alive. Istead they are going to have to keep The Mercenary Contract under their control. Loosing it does not mean imediate defeat but with only three tipes of units to recruit the campaign is going to become extremely difficult.

    I don't understand, is this a fantasy mod? I don't recognize the character or faction names. Is this about King Arthur? If so, shouldn't the mod be called "The Chronicles of the Arthurian Kingdom" (since Arthur never claimed to be an emperor)?

    Yes that is what I want. Possibly the name will change to Valerian Empire.

    What do you think?

    I agree about the name, I understand you like it but yeah my first thought was same as above, how about Four fronts or something

    I like the layout you have devised would prove to be interesting
    Thanks for the support.
    Regarding tha name. I haven't mentioned this but in future versions I want to include as many as 4 campaigns covering different periods of the Empire's history.

    Arthurian Empire is fine, actually...just make a sub-title so people don't get confused. Like "Chronicles of the Arthurian Empire: An Original Medieval Fantasy Mod" or something.

    EDIT: Actually, "The House of Tristian" is a pretty cool sounding title. Or maybe "Chronicles of the Arthurian Empire: The House of Tristian"?

    Can this be done in M2:TW? I didn't know it was possible...

    Here's a question : in which age is the campaign going to take place ? That will be decisive for the units etc.

    Medieval age. No doubt about it.
    Especialy since many units will be based on the units of already exitsting MII TW factions.
