Can you defend from a Jihad ?

I just got called a Jihas against me for the first time ever.

They are trying to get the Alexandria from me, and since this is one of my best cities i am wondering what to do? Is it even posible to defend it, I mean do they stop attacking it after a while or do they just keep attacking indefinetlly?

they will send wave after wave of jihad armies till the jihad fails (20 turns I think) as long as they have money/troops to spare.

They also have like crusades a number of turns after the start were generals can join the jihad and then when they can't join more you should kill'em all

make a full stack (or a couple)of good troops and also fill your city with troops and just attack them whenever they seige you.

They will stop attacking(remember the ones attacking you are not gods they have money and they will spend it on aother things so after one of their attack don't think that that faction will attack again so you'll have time to reorganise your defenses). And just harass a passing Jihad army on their way to Alexandria that way they will have weary units for you to mow down.

i love jihads. Half the time they send wave after wave of really crappy units that you can hack to pieces and up your experience with.

Well it seems that this is not the way things go in SS. I am being invaded by huge stacks of not so bad units...not to sure how long am I going to be able to defend......maybe better to let them have it and than take it later again

My strategy for jihads and crusades as well is to simply evacuate the city, and when the enemy takes it, attack again with a stronger army. Sometimes they even take out most of the garrison!

Alexandria has quiet some bridges near, so you might find a good spot to fight it out with the jihad armies without troubling your economy too much by keeping good units on the payroll.

in general its the same as a crusade. you either give up the city and retake it, which usually saves you a lot of time and money, or you go the heros way and go the "lets get it on" way

Those bastards are still going strong against me with their full stacks....repeled (sp) about ~10 full stacks and still going for more than 20 turns now......cr@p will it ever end.....loosing money like crazy.....

same thing with me, i would defeat a general and 2 turn later he has another full stack. This happened with 5 different factions. It wasnt too bad though because as the turks i was defending Constantanople (i spelled that wrong) and it has the slight bottle neck as you get to the city.

3 more impossible battles later and 3.5 stacks gone...that has to make it atleast 15 stacks in total...i swear the number of men who died on the fields of Alexandria would be enough for me to concquer (sp) the entire world.

at least they attack you, I usually have the problem that those buggers run away as soon as I confront them...

....but no way am i going to do all this the next time they call Jihad on me. It just costs to much......than again I dont remember when was the last time I felt this good about something in TW.....probably since Shogun
