RTW Crash with windows Vista and NVidia

I hope that some one in the community has an answer for my issue. I am new to this forum so I may be following the right procedure.

I am a major fan of RTW. Since loading it on my new computer with Windows Vista and an new NVidia 8600 GT card RTW crashes periodically. The picture gets snowy not unlike what TV’s use to do years ago on free air signals. It causes the graphics in every program to go bad and I have to either reload the drivers for Nvidia or restart.

I have all the latest drivers and Microsoft says its Nvidia fault and Nvida says its Vistas fault. Does anyone have a solution?

Im not sure if my problem is connected to yours Ordo, but ill give it a go
Im running:
Windows Vista 32bit
GForce8800GTX 768mb
and whenever i start RTW my screen flashes horribly like if you "alt tab" inn and out of the game.
This goes on untill i can manage to manualy alt+tab my self to rtw and also seems it has to be tried several times untill the loading of some sort is finished. when i then enter a battle and the loading starts up, it is the same thing, flashes out and inn uncontrollably untill loading is finished and several tries to manualy alt+tab to rtw.

I have the latest Graphic card drivers and ive installed and reinstalled both through CD and manually several times.

If anyone have any ideas on our problems id be forever thankfull

Nvidia drivers crashing RTW
Hi Sleepy,
We may have the same problem. I have tried 3 Nvidia cars a 7300,7600 and 8600. They all use the same drivers. Don’t know if your 8800 does.

MTW2 works perfect for me, but RTW vanilla crashes and it is definitely graphics related. Similar to what you report visually but nothing helps I have to reload the drivers or restart the machine. When RTW crashes it messes up the graphics on every program in on my machine.

I bought RTW on its (US) release date Sept 22 2004 (my birthday). I played it exclusively until January 2008. I love it! Never had any problems with it at all on five different computers some XP, some Vista. The downloaded new drivers last fall automatically and trouble ever since.

It’s a drive problem. RTW works perfectly for me on a machine that is running XP with an ATI graphics card. All my other machine all have Nvidias.

I would like to try one of the mods from this site but I can’t get the vanilla RTW to run so what’s the point? We both need help but I do not have a clue how to solve it. Microsoft said it’s the graphics drivers and Nvida says no, its Windows Vista. Well…. It’s the graphics drivers. I have proven out buy 4 different Nvidis cards on four different machines.

We need tech help!!!
