should i buy more ram?

hello

at the moment I can play medieval 2 total war but only on low settings and with some lag.

my computer specs are:
Memory: 512MB RAM
Processor: AMD Sempron(tm) 2600+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz
Nivida GeForce 6200 256mb

will getting more RAM help my performance? if so how much would you recommend I get?

Ram will not help. Your computer is minimum specs.

Yes it help a bit,the MT2W use about 500 of Ram ,the rest of processes use a lot to ,depending of how many programs you have running background.
Press crtl+alt+del to see how many ram you used.
Even when you install another 512 Mb ram you may have to close some processes.
But as irishron said,your PC is a little outdated,the Ram nowdays is not to expensive,but is better to start to join some money to a new PC.
