    Default Splitting out Generals models

Hi, this is specifically relating to the RS mod setup, so I think it would be a long-winded route to explain how things are in RS in order to post on the workshop forum.

In DMB, 'Roman General' and 'Roman Lesser General' are the same. How can I make the engine recognise a seperate lesser general again? If I just add the model and name it 'lesser general' I get a CTD when starting a battle with a lesser general in it.

    Cheers.

Umm, there is no roman_lesser_general in DMB . . .

You would need to add it to DMB, EDU, EDB and descr_characters.txt to get it working again.

If you're refering to the EDU entries for the early and late roman generals, they aren't the same.

    The early general uses: roman_generals_cavalry_prae_mariana
    The late general uses: roman_generals_cavalry_post_mariana

I had another thought, if you are refering to family members not changing their appearance after the reforms, read the first post of the bug/ctd thread, as this is a known issue.

Thanks for the responses guys - I wrote that in a bit of a hurry so I understand it's not really clear.

Squid, I know there is no roman_lesser_general - that's what I'm trying to rectify!!

What I mean is this for example (entry in DMB):

    slave_general ;now a 'greek_lesser_general'

    and:

    slave_lesser_general ;now a 'greek_lesser_general' above

I want to add models for 'slave_general' and 'slave_lesser_general' etc. to make them distinct models. I am using ALX.exe, so I have the space in DMB. Only thing is, when I add the model with the descriptor 'slave_lesser_general' I get a CTD when starting a battle. Same for the Roman lesser generals - I want to make them different.

At the moment mounted and foot generals are the same. I am not talking about the bodyguards - these have a EDU entry, but the general models that appear as 'extras' whenever you have a battle and are either 'generals' if you have a family member, or 'lesser generals' if you dont. there is no EDU entry for these as far as I'm aware. Whatever model you have in DMB for greek, roman, barb general of lesser general appears at the head of your army whenever you start a battle. That's the model I'm talking about.

I think the clue may be in dvks' point/comment regarding 'descr_characters.txt' so I'll have a look in there when I get home. That might be where the reference I seem to be missing is.

    Hope that's a bit clearer!

Thanks guys, it was the entries in descr_character.txt I was missing. Problem solved.
