    Default Enter the Cool Units:

I'm playing as Ireland in an extremely fun campaign. A brief Summery: Ireland, with William Wallace's help, conquered England and then eagerly landed upon the Iberian Penninsula. Once there, fighting over it ensued fiercely as Castille, Aragon and the Moors fought hard to secure it for themselves.

I have about 180 turns left, and I have not yet been able to recruit a Ridire, a Hobigular, a Gallagoigh, or the Ostmen since I first was fighting the english. The only troops I can make are jav's, spear's, and horseboys, ooh, and those gaelic archers but I just dont make them. Anyway, I have no other units I can build, is there a certain time they are released? Why can I not make any Ostmen or Ridire? I have non currently and can make none, nor a catapult or managonel or anything..

If you have RealRecruitment installed then yes, you have to wait for certain technological developments (and therefore units) to happen.

I dont recall installing RealRecruitment at all. However, I did install a flag-bearer and archer file from Chimera.

As far as I understand it, RR comes with Chimaeira's flag bearer mod and you need to install specific non-RR files to make sure you're not using it.

I see, not that I mind not recruiting them, but not having a single decent unit is a bit rough

Hmm, so what's the stats on that thing anyway? I'll go look for the thread, thanks!

I had the same problem playing as England ImKyleJames. My income was getting way to high since, I couldn't build any decent troops. Even with my King watching jousting matches and eating lots of faul and drinking mead at his castle, still couldn't recruit units enough to counter my income reaching high levels.
I had to reinstall 6.0 and 6.1 and start a new campaign.

Ya Kodiac!!! Right now I have loads or cash and crap troops, just saw that I would get my units at turns 1220 and 1280 I believe it said. What does that leave me? Ten turns? ;D

Granted, I dont want to roll thru my opponant but I make myself dont do that and dont want to stare at the same troops for.. forever.

Gonna see how far I am till then, I really love the flag bearers and this real recruitment has it's good points, but instead couldn't we just limit the cool units to a real few so that only like one stack in your military could boast your good stuff?

    Kyle,

Using RR, you should be able to recruit Ridire from the castle, fortress or citadel. After 1275 some Ridire should be replaced by Lord's Retinue.
Hobiguir are available from Knight's stables.
Galloglaigh are available any time from a castle Drill Square
Ostmen are available from Garrison Quarters.

You should be able to recruit all of the above units no problem. I think what is happening is that you have installed the BGR III mod, which imposes additional recruitment restrictions. There was a bug in BGR III that made it impossible to recruit Feudal or Professional units such as those above. You can download the fix from the first post in the BGR III thread. You will need to re-start the campaign though.

I had BGR III installed as well, didn't know there was a fix. But, still sure is along wait to get some decent units I think and even then, what maybe 2 units and wait another 6 turns to build another two. I think myself, will wait till tweaks have been improved to further out the historical aspects of recruiting armies in SS. Would be a shame to only have one stack of decent units and the game is almost over.

Actually, I didnt choose BGII or III only mods I've downloaded are the ones from Chimera. It's true, I recruited Ostmen before, and a Ridire once I think, but now I can't recruit any from anywhere and have never been able to recruit the Galloglaigh. It just says 4 turns or 9 turns to next unit and doesn't count down. Ostmen, like I said, not since fighting England and could make only a couple at a time. I dont know what's the deal, but there's plenty of units it wont let me click on to recruit.

You have BGR installed, or elements of it, no doubt. RR always counts down. You may well find BGR installed as part of another mod.

If you have the "Emergent of Jerusalem" script installed that will be a problem.

Please read the following page in the RR thread, where someone had a problem similar to yours:

Point Blank, that's extremely similar and I must assume that's what I've done. Although, honestly, I do believe I've only installed RR and it's files, however, they were in a installation that I could not read. All the info/buttons/everything was, and I quote, "????????". I assumed it was due to another language it was coded in, however it did install and I did see something about bgr or something when I installed some patch for it. It is, however, a problem since like him I can't recruit anything but the very low tier units and my countdowns dont move. Turn 150 or so

As for the Emergence thing, I might have but I dont think I did. I remember it being 3 files that I installed though, a base patch and hotfix? Not sure. Either way, it's sad to restart but I'm not gonna be able to stop Aragon with my spear militia only.. no matter how I "stack" 'em.

I am playing Ireland, and they are a bit bland the muire needs some special skins to make them a bit more attractive.

And the mounted gun calvary was not all that I was hoping it would be. Most of my armies are muire and the saitheth (sp) archers. And some mercenary germanics knights.

There was a minor ommission in the buildings file for Kievan Rus Feudal units at the Fortress, the attached file fixes it. Its save-game compatible, just unzip and put it in the SS6 Data folder.
