    Default Naval Strategies?

How many ships do you use in a fleet? How many fleets do you have at a time? (in relation to the size of your empire.) I am quite curious to hear about your naval strategies as far as placement of fleets and such.

I usually use 6 ships in a fleet... Depending on type of course.
You'd pillage too if all you had was lutefisk!

If your objective is to win, then more than your enemy.

As far as how man fleets that I field, I don't generally use more than a few to shuttle infantry around, and even so, I generally disband them once I get to where I want to go. I don't really start building large quantities of ships until the Americas, where I start shuttling stacks of units over to the Americas.

naval superiority in all TW games to date is simple-

Have more ships then the opponent.

since it can only be auto resolved, numbers are your only real advantage.

this will obviously change in empire:total war

Ships actually play a huge part in my campaigns, Specially Coastal factions!!

Ships can be placed between Land crossings to prevent ALL movement to the otherside, But! your forces can move over your ships. It works amazingly.
