The Rise of Scotland

This is a new campiagn I just started with Scotland on vh/vh. There will be no annoying screen shots, no delving into irrelevant details. I have MTW:2 patched to 1.2 with Blood, Broads and Bastards v2.1 for those interested. It is 2 turns to every year.

The Reign of King Malcolm

In this year of the Lord, 1080, King Malcolm has only one aim - to improve the Scottish economy less the English of the south decide to take our fair lands, so that we can have funds to raise an army and defend what is Scotland's heritage.

An army commanded by Prince Edward, the heir to the throne is directed to siege Iverness and take the glens of the North from the rebels. An emissary is despatched in a navy towards France to open negotiations with the French and hopefully marry our heir to a French princess Thus resulting in an alliance with France. Maybe then if we do go to war with the English, they will be forced to fight a war on two fronts.

1082, good tidings, the fortress of Iverness has fallen to Prince Edward. An English princess attended the court at Edinburgh and offered us trade rights, a good beginning with our closest neighbours.

A port has been constructed at Edinburgh, at least our trade can flourish now.

The English attacked York with a small army, the spies reported, but the rebels there held out and drove the English away. Money is tight, and we dont have the money to raise an army to take what the English didnt finish.

The English are persistent and tried again, in the summer of 1083, but again the Rebels drove them away.

Our Emissary has found the French, but no princess, however he has attained trade rights for us, anything to improve ou economy, considering how dire our financial situation is. We are only making a profit of 353 florins every turn.

York has fallen now, in 1084, the English have achieved their goal of expansion. Are we next? Caernavon and Dublin are still in Rebel hands... none the less forces are moved to Edinburgh just in case.

Alex Canmore has been come of age, the second youngest of Malcolm's sons. Another General to bolster our small army. Edward, Edmund, Malcolm and David form the majority of the Scottish forces.

Pope Gregory has called a crusade on Jerusalem, in this year of our Lord 1087. Prince Edmund the Chivalrous was deemed the most worthy to answer the Pope's call. With an army consisting of mainly Highland Rabble he joined, but fortunately cheap mercenries are available and his army is all the stronger now with Crusader Sergeants.

Bad news, the Danes have blockaded our port. A declaration of war! We will be in dire straits if they land an army in Scotland.

David Canmore has come of age, and has taken Edmund's place.

1089, Denmark must be strong, they have joined the crusade. But oure Crusade is making good progress, Prince Edmund has already reached the Nuremburg region.

1090, the Danes have landed, albeit a small army, but the Danes are landing forces outside Iverness.

The Reign of King Edward the Malevolent

Prince Edward has been coronated in the year 1091 following the death of his father, King Malcolm, of natural causes. King Edward has plans to invade and to be more aggressive, despite the small money Scotland makes. He immeditely travels northwards with a force to fight off the Danes. He prooves to be a marvellous leader nd Sotland suffers just one casulty.

Our emmissary has found the French Princess Constance and secured her hand in marriage for King Edward.

Prince David has been named the heir to the throne.

Prince David celebrates his marriage in 1091 to the Spainish Princess, securing yet another alliance for us.

1093 brings interesting news to the Court - the King of England has died, Prince Rufus has succeeded him. No one knows how King Rufus will view our small nation.

1094, the Danes have landed a large force outside Iverness, they seem more determined now to gain a foothold in the Isles, at our expense. Kig Edward takes a Force north once again.

Meanwhile Prince Edmund had o attack those Godless Turks to proced with the Crusade. He is now in the Iconium region and recruited unhorsed knights to bolster the crusding army's forces.

Sounds like a real interesting campaign. But do you mind inserting some pictures here and there. I wanna see some of this action.

although screenshots are anything but annoying, after all a picture says a thousand words- check out my AAR for example.

Great informative text but im afraid an AAR without Pics is doomed to be ignored. add some screens and im sure everyone will love it. i personally love seeing scotland AARs, so i hope to see more soon
