How to create a separate install for RTW?

Hi all,

I've just spent a fruitless half-hour searching for this, but I can't find it.

Since RS doesn't use mod switch, how do I install it while still retaining the ability to play vanilla?

I guess there is a way to have multiple installs of RTW, but I'll be damned if I can find the info online. Tried copy pasting the whole installation of RTW and installing RS in the copy, but every time I click on the start imperial campaign button I go back to the previous menu.

Copy the whole RTW folder and paste into your Activision / Creative Assembly / whatever folder . Now rename the pasted folder something like RS, and install there....you need to install there not into the /data folder

There's no more batch file with 1.5a, and please do a search before posting, as this question has been answered multiple times before.

Thanks tone for your quick response, but I finally found the problem: the quick fixes I was installing (saw them on some RS thread, forgot where) were the ones corrupting my game! RS_-_Hotfix_1.10b.exe and RS_-_Hotfix_1.10c.exe. Are they supposed to actually do this or have they been superceded at some point?

This is all quite confusing even given all the literature I've read so far - which is a bloody lot I can tell you that!

The 1.10 hotfixes are old versions, you don't want to be installing them!

Once you have your clean install of RTW copied, then install the 1.5a full installer only, available from here: http://files.filefront.com/RS+Full+I.../fileinfo.html
