I didn't say the spread was perfect. But I don't mind it. I find it funny how frustrated people get with DLV just because it's hard. If you don't like the challenge or the hurdles DLV puts up for experienced players, play another mod!
yeah i know. they are the animations niko made plus maybe some others. i know that the horse spread animations are from niko and they were removed in another mod. and i was referring that the horse spread animations look like the horse spread bug from vanilla m2tw which they fixed since it was stupid, annoying and not fun to watch at all.

If challenge consists of how 4k'ed up the controls are, then I pass, thank you

Well I guess you can do it like that too . I prefer my mixed armies and my close to movie quality battles, in terms of adrenaline rush. Just had a great battle Venice vs. Byzantium, when the byzantine reinforcement came with the faction leader and no less than 8 units of mixed cav, and all I had was four heavy cav and infantry and archers, an intense battle.

Haven't suffered any major losses due to cavalry spreading. If anything cavalry have been far more effective in the current version of DLV. i can do far more damage than in version without it.

Hi, I just started to play MWT2 again and really enjoy DLV mod but cavalry running amok after a charge is a huge pain in the ... The amount of micromanagement that this feature adds to the game is not worth in my opinion the realism it brings. I think it is better to just nerf cavalry stats even if it breaks balance a little.

The main thing i wanted to mention though is that camels don't seem to have run away after charge "problem". I was thinking about giving all horsemen camel mounts but thanks to lesterthenerd there is no need to do this. So DLV team probably should update camel's animation if they plan to keep this feature around.

This problem of the cavalry is ridiculous!

Ridiculous to the point that after a charge of cavalry, near a door of a castle, the cavalry enter through the door, even closed, and then you can easily invade the castle.

From the no way mod not has become more difficult with this cavalry spoiled.

I wish someone would make a mini-mod that removes it just so there were fewer of these threads.... Just so you know this topic has been debated for months on this board. As you can see, some people like it and some people don't.

I can tell you one thing, I don't think mini-mod is going to come from the DLV team cause they like it. So please someone make the mini-mod so we can talk about other things.

I agree with you. Even when I don't move my cavalry and another unit happens to run into them, they still do the stupid spread, with some of them running halfway across the battlefield without me giving them an order. I lost a faction heir to rebels this way. Lucky I had saved the game before the battle.

It's almost to the point now where I'm considering autocalcing battles, and the battles are one of my favorite parts of the game.

The rest of the mod is great, but this cavalry thing is almost a gamebreaker...

    You could try this:

    1. Download this file: http://files.filefront.com/SSTC+Hors.../fileinfo.html
    2. Backup these 4 files from the DLV_ext\data\animations folder: pack.dat, pack.idx, skeletons.dat, skeletons.idx
    3. Run the installer you just downloaded
    4. It will create a directory path like this:c:\Program Files\Sega\Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\animations
    5. Put the pack.dat, pack.idx, skeletons.dat, skeletons.idx files from this folder to the DLV animations folder
    6. Check if the horse animations OK
    7. If something wrong, just delete the 4 files, and put back the backup files

I tested this, and it works. I hope it helps. Though im a little bit confused, because this will use the SS6 animations in DLV, so there is chance that it will mess up something. But i tried different troop types (axemen, swordsmen, cavalry, spearmen) and no problems so far. So test it.

PS: remember to back up the 4 files in the DLV animations directory!

The difficulty in the DLV 5.6 battles fell 50% ... Not use more cavalry, it is enough.

In the DLV 5.5 enemy cavalry destroyed my infantry.

Now ... in the DLV 5.6, have become easy targets for my archers.

Anybody who likes horseback riding knows how hard is to ride side by side in a row. Riding row after row in some kind of formation is insanly hard, almost impossible
So I find cav spreading as a future quite realistic...

Other thing is HOW this horsemen spreads - yesterday when I played one of them was riding around himself while the res of unit was miles away - he would do that until the end of the battle unless I've changed my cavs orders...

How about leaving the current spread/fan out feature for all cav expect for king's bodyguard who stay close to their leige?

I like that alot and it makes perfect sense. I wish there was a way to change the spread based on the commander's traits. That would be nice also
