    Default Teleporting spearmen?

Version 1.0. Haven't gotten around to updating yet.
I'm Kingdom of Jerusalem, besieging the Ayyubid capital of Qahira in 1177.
I have King Baldwin, another general, and 3 random spears/militia at the walls. I have a spy in Qahira.
Qahira has one 20-horse general in the city and nothing else.
Somehow, on the CPU's turn, the city manifests 2 units of Mutatawwi'a Huntsmen (makes sense) and 10 units of 4-exp Jund Spearmen (doesn't make sense). Qahira of course sallies forth at this point. This makes taking the city somewhat harder. What the hell is going on here?

Since you didnt pry the city gates open with spies. During the night the city garrision had time to muster to defend the nation's "CAPITAL" city. The Eygptian capital during the Crusades was on of the most important cities in the world. Hence the very immpressive garrison script

But it's under siege? I thought nothing could get in or out under a siege? I've never had massive reinforcements arrive inside a city under siege, capital or not. I've taken out lots of capitals in my Khwarezm and Oman games, and this has never happened.

Think about it. Any metropolitan city's gonna have a National Guard depot. You didn't assault with spies so the end turn represents the siege lasting days. That's enough time for the city folk to haul toccus down to the armoury and wholla.. you got your hands full. If you don't want to deal with garrion scripts ram spies up their Bum. Also bear in mind that's BC's still very young and the creators are well....still creating. I mean it all boils down to how you want to play, do you want a challenge or shooting fish in a barrel.....Myself I prefer a challenging time shooting fish in a barrel. Since you've invested time in BG you should come and visit the forums more often.

Uh... okay. So this is just glitching out hardcore?

I tried fighting that battle, with 20:3 odds against me. I took out 60% of their forces, including the entirety of the general's unit. I might be able to win it if I try again.

At the beginning of my next turn, all of those new forces were gone, and the city was back to being guarded by that single general, who had been mysteriously resurrected.

National gaurdman's arent paid jack Believe me I know from personal experiance. Sometimes you can have more fun losing a battle. Sounds like you had fun fightin the siege though.

It's the garrison script, basically. The AI can't garrison important cities as well as we'd like them to, so there is a script in place to reinforce challenging cities to make the sieges for them more worthwhile.

That's precisely why I make sure to fight ONLY field battles. Usually the retarded Ayubbids have some giant tea party of reinforcement armies sitting around cities, so I just attack a stack and destroy all the reinforcements.

    Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS! (Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.

I had to besiege Constantinople two times - in the end I had to use three Kipchak troops at the same time to succeed !

The AI is not smart but not that stupid, many times I've seen the AI reinforce it settlements when I put a stack near the border.
Do not forget, the AI has the same AOR like we do.
It can be they recruited all warriors for that settlement and now they have to wait for some couple of turns like we do.
I'm telling you, the strat map AI is really good.
Standing ovation for that BC team!
