just wondering if anyone has played Paradox's Europa Universalis Rome and how it compares to CA's series.

I haven't played it but from what I've read of the reviews, it's not without its flaws. Talk to delra though. He's a HUGE Europa Universalis fan

A total rip off? Why? Just because it covers the same era as RTW?
If only the Total War series would "borrow" some ideas from Paradox and add more details to their games.

No because like i said it "looks" the same i have not played it
im not so stupid to think a game is the same because of the era its in
RTW was not the 1st game about rome either

u r contradicting yourself in that sentence. you say it looks the same and then you say you dont think its the same....

anyways i heard that the game had some very good features that should be in the total war series. i might try the game sometime to see if this is true.

I enjoy crusader kings, as it is original and innovative. I thought Rome wa sabsolutely pants. Really, played for like 2 hours then took it back

(however i really like empire building and the most enjoyable nations to play areapparently the ones which are big already and i also disliked EU 3 immensely)

Everything is a little Skin deep on EU:rome. The Dynasty is like a really poor Crusader Kings, diplomacy is fairly stupid. All you can really do is get lucky and have your leader add 200 gold to tresury then pump out mercs or sit there waiting (hours and hours) for your techs to mature..

In short, try the demo, but bear in mind the demo contains all the options

    I love EU3.

Haven't really gotten around to Rome yet. Tried playing it for 2 hours, got REALLY confused, and then went back to MTW. Looks awesome though; when I get bored with SS, I'll actually invest some time into learning how to play.

Eu3 is one of the best games ever.
I didnt like Eu Rome at all tbh

The first EU games were fun and rather innovative, but they did not have the combat element to them that I relish in MTW. They have much higher developed economic and diplomatic game systems, which makes for an entirely different game experience.

If only someone would combine the battles of M2TW with the economy and diplomacy of the EU games....
