strange performance issue

It slow. Using fraps i can see i get as low as 15fps and rarely much higher than 20.

I got everything turned up max and large unit size.

My specs are way better than they need to be.

2xAMD athlon 64 6400+
3 gb ram
8800gts 640mb

whats the deal here?

If you have the simple, no mod switch version of RTR try the grass add-on from the optional add-ons pack. The grass in RTR iirc is much denser than in vanilla and this usually it a big hit on resources.

I also found a possible solution (Well it worked brilliantly for me) by mistake the other day.

I have a nVidia gfx card and I stumbled across the settings panel. I changed the performance from Quality to Performance and wow..... what a difference.
