Default Turkish Sultanate Question - Script Triggered?

Playing on M/M turn one: Secure trade rights with ERE, lay siege to Amorium.
Begining turn two: I'm staring at two ERE 4star stacks lock & loaded SW of Dorylaem. So to the question..... Did I trigger a script by siegeing Amorium or did those divisions just get back from putting down rebellions in Greece. I.E.would have showed up irregardless of my actions. And you guys wonder why I'm Mongol-phobic. Clicking on them they stated "It's an honor, blah, blah, blah, but not here to parley". In my games this generally means it's not "Go Time.".......yet.

My Question: Did I trigger a script (two full stacks) when I sieged Amorium.Cuz if not the Mongols sent me a little preview of things to come.

Its not a script as far as I'm aware, and I'm busy playing a Turkish campaign at the moment.

A little tip for the early game, befriend the Abbasids and Ayyubids, then wipe Armenia off the face of the Earth. After that, go for the ERE, starting with Trebizond. That'll mean you only have one direction to go in when kicking Roman ass, and it should leave you with a line of three castles to defend against any other opponents. Worked like a charm for me.
    I love you all!

The Turkish Sultanate offensive faction, if you waiting for the the other faction ERE or Armenia attack you and ERE and Armenia spearmen and cavalary very strong you cannot win firstly secures cilica for the armenia and alliance for the muslim countries then knock-out for the ERE in additon take the Heracle and Sinop gain a gold for the ports

I wouldnt bother too much with Ghulams, I disbanded any I got and went with horse archers instead.

Shoot em up, finish with a massed Ghazi charge for all but an instant rout.

Ya love the Ghazi's West & East. Cheap, AP attack, with decent general Unbreakable.....Most of the time their my frontline assault troops. Don't laugh those little axes have brought down many a enemy general. Okey - Dokey i'll stick with the HAs.
Thanks for the guidance, keep us abreast of developments

When you get Ankara to Fortress level (or grab Nicaea at Fortress from the ERE or whatever) the Rum Turks become unstoppable, 'cause then you get Janissaries, as well as good medium cav in the Timariot Lancers...plus the great Horse Archers. Oh, and Ghulam Cavalry is available from Fortresses (Ankara for some reason starts with a Fortress-level slave trade building). Ghulams are murder on the treasury though, with the 650 upkeep figure...

Wow, great details thanks...Ya your right about the upkeep costs, think I'll stick with the horse archers. In my campaign it's 1178 and Detante not going to well. EREs got a stack parked at Konya. They seem to think its a traffic intersection. Hopefully they'll go bother the Bulgarians at Varna cuz if not it's "On" and right now I got nothin. No infastructure, just a couple pissed off guys with pitchforks.

If you gotta, just use whatever infantry you can scrounge up as cannon fodder and repeatedly charge their infantry's flanks and rear with the general's BGs...Or just kill their commanders as rapidly as possible and then ransom off all the prisoners you take.

I used the second strategy, gotta love big armies led by captains...

Personally, I'd recommend throwing a couple squads of Ghulams in there. A full HA army is lethal, but in the event you come across a full stack of heavies, you might want the extra punch of the Ghulams. Nothing extreme, just maybe one unit for each flank to charge any full-strength units after the bombardment is finished.

    Yep.

The quickest way to get some Ghulams without runing your economy is to capture as many of the swarms of light spearmen the Roman douchebags throw at you as possible.

Individually, they aren't worth much, but it can add up to quite a nice chunk of spare change, especially given that the ERE always seems to be rolling in dough.

Then use that money to recruit more HAs and Ghulams.

    It's a vicious cycle, I tells ya!

Most of my HAs and Ghulam Cav, especially the ones in Konya and Ankara are sporting some sick exp because of that. Well, that and as soon as I took Aleppo and effectively surrounded Cilicia, the Ayyubids started throwing hordes at me as well.
