Hey, i was wondering what everyone's favorite legion was and why.

Of course you probably know which one is my favorite
for obvious reasons, mainly because it kicks every other legions butt.

But what do you think is yours?

My favorite is probably Legio I Minervia.

Just kidding, the third is actually my 3rd favorite legion. My second favorite is XXX, my favorite emperor's own legion!

No they lived on. All records show that they were mostly based around Syria after caesars death and that whole civil war. But then at some point the records stop mentioning and was never heard from again.

Of the real life legions, I'd have to say the I Adiutrix. They were raised durring one of the darkest times for the early Empire
(Nero and the wars that followed his death) and survived while othe legions were disbanded or distroyed. They fought in all of Trajans wars and gave good service for the rest of their existence all over the Roman world.


In the game, I'd have to say the V Macedonia. They got cool looking shields and are my backbone legion in my current campaign. When things get tough, I know I can always count on them to pull through for me.

In RL, Legio XI Claudia Pia Fidelis. Why? One of Caesar's legions, and I'm about to join a reenacting-group... Legio XI.

In the game... I wouldn't know. But certainly one with loricae segmentatae or loricae squamatae.

hmmm... let me think... which one is my favorite...?? ahhh... i know!!

LEGIO XV APOLLINARIS

It was recruited by Octavian in 41/40 BC. The emblem of this legion was probably a picture of Apollo, or of one of his holy animals.

Octavianus (later Emperor Augustus) raised XV Apollinaris in order to end the occupation of Siciliy by Sextus Pompeius, who was threatening Rome's grain supply. After the Battle of Actium, the legion was sent to garrison Illyricum, where it probably remained until 6 BC, though it might have seen action in the Cantabrian Wars.

In 6 BC, Apollinaris was part of the huge campaign by Emperor Tiberius against the Marcomanni that was obstructed by a revolt in Pannonia. Apollinaris saw a good deal of fighting in the suppression of the revolt. It was most likely this legion that built the Colonia Iulia Aemona. By 9 the legion was headquartered in Pannonia, in the town of Carnuntum.

My favorite legion is definitely Legio V Macedonica. It's the longest active legion, and i also like their shields

I like the dark coloured legions such as Gallica, Augustus II etc... I always seem to use them the most and hence they become the strongest of the veteran legions.
