    1. Copied a fresh RTW installation with the BI expansion.

    2. Ran the IBFV 7.0 installer

    3. Ran the 7.03 upgrade installer

    thats it.

starting again with a completely new copy of RTW-BI. Hopefully it'll stop playing silly buggers with me now.

Huzzah! a result! I finally had time today to start fixing this, and I created a whole new directory for it, and now I can thankfully say that it works perfectly and I'm in the throes of an East Roman Empire campaign against the Sassanids and the Huns. I'm ashamed to say the only thing that's keeping me from defeat is my onagers...Blasted Arabs and Armenians won't help me.

I still have no Idea what was causing that CTD though. It also means I'm going to have to find the time to delete the old, now 'dead' directory.

I think there was another mod installed in that directory, but it had a switch folder, so It shouldn't have made a difference.

edit: that mod stopped working as well.
