help plz, getting rid of green arrow markers with vista

i dont know if vista is my problem, but i never had any problems with xp

in my preferences folder all i see is this

there are no other options and i dont see another preferences folder anywhere

can anybody help me please, i cannot stand these darn green circles
maybe its this obnoxious security vista has, editing my battle map movement speeds was weird..maybe this is too?
