Missing CD ????

Hey Guys great site found this made me want to join the party

So went out bought Gold Version here in NZ patched to 1.3 installed SS6.0 and 6.1 went to play and the damned thing ask me for disks ..... put both in that i bought with game neither works still asks for disks...... Cheers for any advice in advance

i dont recall having to patch with gold, but i did anyway to get 1.05. i installed both rome and mt2w yesterday and got both ss and eb so i may be confusing romes and mtw2 gold version status out of the box

have u tried uninstalling? did you install kingdoms?

nobody can and i doubt would tell you how to run the game with no cd...not that i think your trying to get a no cd crack

No-CD cracks will not work with SS anyway.

actually they do.. i cant be bothered switching disks so i use them.

Many people have reported crashes etc that have been caused by no-CD cracks, usually with the game hanging during the AI's turn. So much so, it used to be the standard first tech-support question around here:

"Help my game is crashing!"

"Do you have a no-cd crack"

"Yes"

"Problem Solved"

hmm well ive gotten no crashes around the ai's turn using no cd fixes. ive only gotten CTD's because of missing files caused by other mods.

All Im saying is that when i go to start SS it asks for the disk either of the 2 I got with the gold version which gives you both M2TW and Kingdoms dont seem to be recognised by SS

i had the same problem i bought the gold edition and after installing it it says its not the wright disc lucky for me i had the older version off the kingdoms expansion pack the one that came after medieval total war 2 and now i can play it .but there must be something wrong with the combination gold edition and stainless steel . hope someone fix this

Does the gold version run from a different .exe than Kingdoms.exe?

Okay gonna reinstall from scratch me thinks and see if that makes a difference atm cant even get kingdoms to run still says missing disk

Okay..there is also a thing called securom, that is present on medieval 2 kingoms expansion, and on medieval 2 gold!

Securom is a trojan program they don't tell you about, but still it gets installed with the game! It's purpose is supposed to stop you make an illegal copy of the game!

But on the downside it conflicts with certain files and programs..which is exactly what happened to me!

I bought the ORIGINAL Medieval 2 Gold game, and after installing it and inserting the play cd..I got a message saying "Conflict with the emulation device detected", which was damn impossible cause I didn't have any such programs installed(doesn't justify it if I did)!

So I had to resort to no-cd exe(cause I couldn't play my legitimate, bought game!

Anyway to make a long story short, I'm playing SS 6.0/6.1 all the time since it got out, using the no-cd exe and didn't have any ctd's during ai's turn or whatsoever!

The conclusion: It makes absolutely no difference whether you play with or without no-cd exe(as long as you don't use the pirate version of the Medieval 2, the game will work fine either way)!

If it doesn't..something is wrong with your installation!

So I'd suggest to lay off the no-cd exe/crack witch hunt..thank you!

We are not hunting for crack users, we are just telling them that a crack could screw up your game. Perhaps you were lucky, others aren't.

I get your point, and guess that my post above was rather harsh! But! On the other hand IMHO, no-cd exe gets blaimed a lot for ctd's and freezes and with little proof!
I mean, I don't understand how can one exe file corrupt the whole game?

I think that people are more likely to get ctd's, when using the illegal pirate version, thus the no-cd crack..than the people who use original, legal version of the game with no-cd exe!

Of course, all things must be taken into consideration when it comes to various malfunctions..it's just that all these questions like "Are you using the no-cd crack" are making me feel uncomfortable and guilty, thats all..

lol this got nothing too do with a crack croky had the original cd of the gold edition did a clean installation but when he wanted too start the stainless steel the program didnt regonase the original gold edition cd, i had the same problem but was lucky that i had the original cd off the kingdoms expansion the game that came after medieval total war 2 and before the gold edition .maybe other players ho got the gold edition can not play too with the original cd?

i dont know if you were born yesterday, but most people trying to get cd cracks use similar stories hoping to elicit sympathy.

like i said after his first post, i didnt say he was trying to get a crack...just that if he was, i believed it was against the tos of the forum to tell someone how.

i got the gold version i bought a month ago and i had no problems getting ss to work, so the only thing i can think of is uninstall everything and retry...its fast to do that...i'm just suprised he hasnt said anything about the results :hmmm:

Okay to be clear No Im not trying to elict a crack for the CD/DVD .... my fault I should have been clearer in the title of the thread .... started the reinstall last night so have the basic game done now but it was late on Sunday night here in NZ and have to be at work at 6.30 in the am .... so will complete tonight and see how I go .. (got internet acess at work so lucky me) thanks for the responses guys appreciate the help
