Default Ok why is the plague killing 3/4 of my generals?

I am pretty disgusted right now. Why is it every turn I am losing 3 and 4 generals? I only have about 20 to begin with. As much as I like this mod, there is a disturbing trend to make every random bad scripted event as krappy as possible. I don't mind the plague but I cannot see why I need to lose so many royal members.

I just don't understand, why ruin a great mod with this kind of stuff? I have no control over the plague, and I sure as heck don't want to have to go through all the trouble of replacing all those generals on 3 continents. And its insane that I lose that many people.

All the scripted stuff sucks imo, because it only detracts from he game. I can barely get a 2 star general now. No matter what schooling they do or if they when heroic battle after heroic battle. And the computer seems to get at least 4 or 5 stars as a default. Is there anyway to make the game more difficult without simply going nuts and super scripting everything to the point it's absurd?

Like I said the mod is great, but I spend like 20 hours on a campaign, and then I want to quit it because It really makes me mad as heck to lose 3/4 of my generals that I carefully placed in all my settlements. And it just adds to all the micromanaging.

Ok how can I turn this garbage off? I lost 8 generals in 3 turns. I have like maybe...20 total.

Really is it necessary for me to abandon a game I spent 20 hours on? I'd rather I lose my generals in battle where I have some control over it.

That's really, really odd. In my experience, I maybe lose 1 or 2 generals per plague cycle out of 30 or so.

I don't know exactly how to remove the plague triggers, but try in data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign. descr_events.txt may be what you're looking for.

Well it is realistic in my opinion. Look how many people died during that time.

Those would be poorer townspeople though. I'm not entirely sure if the nobility suffered the same deathrate - doubtless, some died, but probably not at the same pace as the peasantry/urban poor.

According to wiki, "All social classes were affected, although the lower classes, living together in unhealthy places, were most vulnerable."

    Right.

I remember that I've read this one story called "The Masque of the Red Death"
Nobility ended up dying even though they tried to outrun the plague by living in a "clean" castle far away from the town.

None of the nobility die in The Decameron. In fact, their time in hiding in a villa is rather pleasant.

I think the most generals I've lost during the whole plague run was 4, and I thought that was high. Maybe you should focus on building public health buildings.

Lol, well, stories are stories =P.
A big contributor to the spread of the bubonic plague was the squalor in which the urban masses lived. Crowded living spaces, filthy, narrow streets, and an overabundance of rats living off of the gunk were principle causes of the virulence of the pandemic. Nobles (generally) lived in somewhat better conditions, and were wealthy enough to take measures against contaminating their immediate areas. Of course, if they caught it, they died at the same rate - it's just that it doesn't seem likely that they were as prone to being infected.

Well, the plague appear at turn 126 and there're 4 "waves". Just look in the descr_events.txt and take all of your generals out.

Viewing scripted historical events as detractions is probably a minority point of view. As to generals, AI does have a 3 start auto-boosted. However, command star's major effects are autoresolve and morale, so it shouldn't actually be "difficult" that AI gets 3 more stars to start with.

I rarely get to the plague in SS lol. But I know in LTC I lost my king, my heir and seval other uber generals within 1 turn.

Just move them out of the settlements until the plague has passed.

ditto. Just like history: nobility flees to the country side while peasant fodders die in droves....

But yes, moving generals out of settlements will ensure they don't die from plague

are you sure? i thought they were still affected by the plague even when they moved out of a plague infected settlement.

Yes but outside of the settlement they cant be reinfected, improving survival odds
