Shield Wall?

In the SS 6.0 preview it said many early units have shield wall for an ability I've been looking and it looks like no units have this ability was it trashed or if there are units could someone tell me which ones have shield wall. Thx.

Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Faroe Island, Greenland and Iceland are all part of the term "Norse"

It gives defensive bonuses, harder to penetrate with a cavalry charge IIRC.

No, I guess you could look in the descr_formations file?

Edit: Just looked, nevermind, it only deals with group formations. Quark or PB might know specifics.

Go into your EDU and do a search for shield_wall. Every unit that can perform shield wall will have this in the formation line. I believe a few english units, viking type units and some byzantine units have the shield wall ability. If you want to add shield wall, just go to the unit in the EDU and add shield_wall to the formation line.

Even if they don't get a defensive bonus, the tighter formation do help alot, specially when defending. Your men are all packed nice and tight with very little chance for the enemy to break the formation. And if the enemy are in a relatively loose formation, you can often see that you got 2 people attacking every enemy.

I also like that the front rank does most of the fighting when they are winning. Lowers the number of individual soldiers at risk for random stabbings. And if they push far enough ahead you can break the formation and sometimes immediately charge, the second rank joins in.
