2 Turns Per Year- How to
I am in the process of writing an AAR, and in the interests of correct charachter aging I would like to change the timescale to 0.5
I edited the descr_strat in the Stainless Steel folder, but it is still 1.5. I do not want a mini-mod, I just want to change that little line in descr_strat.
Thanks in advance,
Tweety

Re: 2 Turns Per Year- How to
It is very simple, just change the line in descr_strat from 1.50 to 0.50...
But be aware that there is both a descr_strat for the early era and one for the late one...
One is in
C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
and one is in
C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\campaign\custom\Late_Era_Campaign

If you run Vista you can have some trouple editing the files and save them again...
If you have Vista, save the file, with the same name, and place it on your desktop for examble... Then click-and-drag the file into the correct folder and overwrite the file...

I have found the files and successfully edited them. I will now test in-game. Thanks a lot, Tweety. Will +rep when I can.

Re: 2 Turns Per Year- How to
Be aware that you cannot just change the turns per year value in the descr_strat.txt file or you will have all the settlements growing super fast and you'll end up with huge cities and fortresses a LOT quicker than you're supposed to. You also need to change the population growth modifiers or (better yet) use the mini-mod that yellowdog linked to in his reply and have it done for you

Re: 2 Turns Per Year- How to
I use 2 turns per year and love it. It makes movement and construction times so much more realistic.
The other easy alteration I made, also to the "descr_strat" file, was to change the Early start year to 1098. Again for realism.

Re: 2 Turns Per Year- How to
My perception is that it 'corrects' the construction times for buildings to a rate more in line with RTW. For instance, I just don't like the idea that a simple early-stage building might take 6 years to complete, with more sophisticated buildings taking 12 years.
Since I tax the &^$% out of my towns, and since towns and cities across the map get occasionally depopulated by war and events, I rarely see an unbearable rise in population. And since populations and urbanization were historically on a steady rise during the Medieval period, it's all good with me.

Re: 2 Turns Per Year- How to
I don't like increased build times and costs, in my experience the AI struggles with them as well.
Anyway, I've changed it, thanks for your help.
