Default Marrying inside the family tree...

Was this taken out of SS 6.0? Because, creepiness aside, I always found it an easy way to provide my male family members with high quality wives, especially since later in the games the tendency for family members to not marry in their lifetime. Is there any way I can change this feature back?

Not possible. Hard coded this time around I believe. Never seen the ability to marry off siblings in SS.

    Siblings, yes, cousins, no.

I was always able to marry a princess to another person of my family tree as long as they weren't brother and sister. Now I can't marry my princesses to anyone within the family tree.

I always marry my princessess to their cousins. My motto is -keep it in the family-. I tend to play dynasty games where no one gets adopted and no one marries into the royal family. I wouldn't want any usurper to claim the throne.

My point is, I don't think you can do that (or at least I can't, playing as France in the Late Campaign) in 6.1.

Maybe I should see if it works with another faction.

Do you get any bad traits?

No, I get decent enough traits. It's not like in MTW when you married your princess to her brother and got a inbred family. I don't think there are any triggers for it in the traits file.

Not sure how exactly the triggers work for setting that nasty chain of events off but there are both traits and triggers.

So... uhh, I guess watch who you marry

How do you know who you are marrying of to? Like I can't tell if France is coming to marry off my daughter, or an inside of the family.

In older versions, you take your princess, select the general/family member you want to marry her to. If it's of a different faction, you see a % chance of success or failure - if the man's of your own faction, then chance is 100%.

Sorry I thought you meant brothers/sisters and so on. Well yes you can marry cousins. I don't keep track of resulting traits.

I'm trying to explain that in my current campaign as France, I cannot marry cousins, and I'm asking if this was removed from SS 6.1!

Well I'm playing France (Late Era) and I can marry cousins.

Same here. Marrying within the family tree should work.

Huh. That's weird... I'm pretty sure I did it as Genoa in 6.0, but it just isn't working for me. I think I'll just try it with another faction.

It works perfectly for me and i think historically at that time cousins can marry.

i think first cousins were a bit taboo but anything beyond that was alright. (but then again it's western European royalty; probably a lot of taboo stuff going on)

I tried it with Castille, it works for them. Maybe it's this:

    -Princesses can't marry their nephews

    but

    -Princesses can marry their uncles

Because with France, I was trying to marry a princess to her nephew (the age difference was only 2 years), so maybe that's it.

Anything goes, just not brother and sister.
