    Default Papal States. WTF?

For the first time im successful with a Templars campaign, the freakin papal states are about to wipe out Sicily!!!

    How do i stop this!?

if not, is there a way to change the movement points for all of there units and generals to 0, so they cannot move outside of rome?

Just curious, did they manage to get Florence early on? I find that when they get Florence they tend to eventually become a huge Juggernaut of holy smackdown porportions.

Well, I'm not sure how you could mod it to stop, but maybe if you assassinated the current pope, it would put a stop to it. I've noticed that some Pope's tend to be much more aggressive then usual. Alternatively, you could spam their cities with spies/assassins and try to get them to revolt.

Or, just roleplay a bit and call your own personal Crusade against the war mongering pope

I'd say Nuke the bastard if the option was available. Even though that wouldn't do anything as he will just reappear on the next turn. No but seriously just assassinate him and that should stop the Warmongering if not he and his army will be knocking on the door of one of your settlements.

Are you saying i need to redo my whole campaign, i cant afford to start building brothels to get assassins, im already in negative florins because of my expensive war with the fatimids, and now the turks have joined in after there alliance 2 turns ago.

Well i'll first if i were you I'll get my finances straighting out as soon as possible as with out money you are a sitting duck. .Try to if possible to establish new trade with other factions and also i suggest trying to establish alliances with other peaceful factions.Another thing i learned is try to build or upgrade buildings that will add to your economy like markets government buildings ETC Build those first if possible. And another thing if you have settlements near a coast or water ETC convert those settlements to city's as they bring in more money than a castle would. Also if possible suggest a ceasefire with who ever you are at war with.I can't give you a whole lot of advice because i never have had to face such a situation I've had similar ones but nothing like yours. But those are my suggestions. Also maybe depending the size of your army try and seek out any weak settlements on the map preferably a rebel settlement if possible as you definenatly in your current situation don't need another war with another faction.. Oh one more thing in regards to the pope it would be wise to make amends with him as you are in no position to fight a war with every Catholic Faction including the pope himself unless you want a crusade called on your capital. And believe me it is no fun.I barely survived the crusade called on me.Well i hope this helps.I wish you luck...

Pope didn't get a chance to destroy Sicily in my campaign.

I did it for him (apart from Sardinia which has 3 full stacks sitting next to the castle.)

So far Pope has Rome and Florence - except when one of them rebels and he has to retake it.

(that's around turn 225 of an early era campaign.)

so some campaigns the Pope does very little. difficult to nerf the Pope too much lest he does nothing at all.

Papal State did the same in my Byzantine campaign also: conquered whole Italian penninsula and destroyed Sicily... Annoying...

The Pope is usually really aggressive against Sicily. I have seen the Pope destory the Sicilians on several occasions.

I have to restart this templars campaign.By turn 50 they have eaten sicily and starting warring with venice, but i dont think venice can afford it, there warring with Byzantines and HRE atm.

my question is, will they ever expand to the point where they will eat up byzantines and beat venice? If so i will have to restart this campaign, im sucking ass anyway. fatimids have me locked in jersualem and im fighting off full stack armies again and again and i cant keep building up. im already in -2000 florins... my ass is getting handed to me

In one of my campaigns, the pope took all of italy, most of germany, and most of france, then I stopped playing.

Did you give the pope a settlement or something? sometimes that triggers his crazyness for me.

No, the pope is from my faction (Knights templar)

This seems to happen everytime during early era, no matter what i do they always siege florence and that begins the

Oh, and i lost that campaign on turn 125, i held out for a long ass time against turks and fatimids slamming me, i took out 2 2300 man armies with a feeble 1900 and 3 generals within that. was pretty epic but finally i was defeated

Play it 'till you lose, think of it as a glorious last stand. I love getting my ass handed to me, as it almost never happens.

Guess next I'll try the Knight Templars
