Well they have a huge area of land, decent units and historically were the strongest faction at the start of the game, so its not surprising that they are that strong.

No it is normal that the Seleucid-Empire is the strongest. I play as Rome on H/H and the seleucid empire is really the strongest. But it does not always has to be that. If the Ptolomaic-Empire wins a key battle they take many city's from the SE. That only happened one time to me before so....

I have always been annoyed - but - enjoyed that in XGM because its historical. The Sel's were a real threat worry to Rome for a period of time.

I find that their always a threat but just can't seem to wipe out those smaller nations bordering them, they just get embroiled in a bunch of long wars. But if they win in the Middle East against the Ptolemies, they can really bring the hurt.
