    Default Jerusalem fluke?

Okay, so I've played close to every one of the factions, and finally started one up as KOJ, thinking this would be hard, plus I didn't really fancy them anyway.

But now I have all of Egypt, Makuria, and the Arabian Peninsula down to Mecca. I have the entire Holy Land.

Now I'm seizing Baghdad and its cities and ransoming it all back in exchange for a cease-fire. I've crippled the Abbasid military capabilities by seizing castles and cities and destroying their entire infrastructure.

But damn. KOJ cannot expand very well, it was hard enough taking Makuria by slowly filtering down knights and spearmen from Gaza, Kerak and Acre.

And yet I still keep hearing how hard KOJ is. Was it a fluke? I took Damascus and surrounding hinterlands as quickly as I could, before garnering a cease-fire before backstabbing the Ayyubids and taking Qahira and Damyiut and Alexandria. I expanded quickly, taking as far as Mecca and now border the Imamate of Oman.

Anyone else with similarly unexpected success stories?

Yes, I did the same thing. I did have it difficult in the beginning of the war with Abbasid, Ayyub, ERE, Armenia, Georgia and Makuria since they all came at the same time but now I pretty much own everything around the holy land (Abbasid, Ayyub..) and some provinces in Turkey. Why "christians" would fight "christians" (Georgia, Armenia against me is beyond me though).

A KoJ-campaign is a lot more fun if you don't go on the offensive immediately. Let the Yubbies build up a few turns, say 10-15 turns. But not too long, cause then they will swarm you with high tier troops (fighting mamluks with poulain knights sucks). This way the fight is a lot more rewarding. In my last KoJ-campaign I had some truly memorable battles against well balanced powerful stacks and you really get the feeling of fighting against a powerful empire, while if you rush the Yubbies they can only muster lower tier troops .

Why would they? Abbasids seems like a better choice imo. (Altough Georgia did fight them later on). Yup.

    Why wouldn't they?

    Agree...
In my campaign wit KoJ...It's the time to start the war against the Ayyubids...
It's 1213 AD and the Saladin's armies are very strong...

Don't rush against Saladin...and the Koj campaign are "historically correct"

success story?oh men thats what they call ''BLITZ'' everybody can do it, i can even own the entire arabian area just by having footsoldiers spawn hell somebody even says he finnished the campaign in 30 turns!!.. but wait.. it would be better if you take your time and let the AI do his thing..but dont hang arround too much when playing KOJ 'cuz believe me it'll be hard to come out from it by the time they have all thier tier3 units the ayyubids coupled with abbasids is a pain in the ass....

so answer to your q, fluke?: NO, you just cant resist the bloodlust you have when you see a settlement undermanned, from the way you speak you dont even bother backstabing and diplomacy to you is nothing but papersh@%t. your success story is no success...

    sorry...
