All Hail Putin! Russia has no other Puppets than this guy! All Hail the KGB and Putin running Russia.

Reminds me of Stalin. "Oh you'll be the president of the party comrade, but I'll be the one running the show unless you want to end up in Sibera."

while I was able to lol at your first statement, I couldnt bypass the opportunity to redicule the second one.

Stalin was the "president of the party". secretary general of the communist party of the USSR = president of the country.

Nah, Kalinin was President and Head of State of the Soviet Union in Stalins time.

And Stalin didn;t become Prime Minister until '41.

    Exactly.

Of course there is no Putin regime in power - more like a confederacy of Kremlin factions with Putin as the undisputed 'moderator' -
but Putin as the PM and leader of United Russia adds another layer to the entire thing which is Kremlin shadowy politics.

There is no 'new' at all means, everything stays at it always was. Putin, Medvedev, Ivanov who cares as they are all same lot.

guys, call it however you want, but please learn from history.

President / Secretary General / Czar / any head of state always had a very powerful role and almost unquestioned leadership in Russia.

if you seriously believe that Medvedev (being a president) is going to be "just a puppet" of Putin (breing a prime minister), then YOU ARE SERIOUSLY KIDDING YOURSELF.

Can Putin run for President again, becasue i thought he can;t run for three consecutive terms but could he theoretically run again in the future?

By the way as Prime Minster Putin is head of Government meaning theoretically he could change the constitution.

    I believe it is both.

may be one can possibly find a loop hole in the Russian constitution, of course, but it will surely as hell violate the spirit of it. and this is something that Putin will never going to do. he wants to be remembered as a good guy who rebuilt Russia, not as some kind of crook. you simply disregard the fact that he is not an idiot . in fact, quite the opposite is true.

Putin obviously wants to remain in control and have influence as he told Medvedev he should continue his policy as it was good and right, and perfect then he is now the PM. I am suspicious, if he felt like he had done enough and is good, then he would retire and recognise he has done enough and now its time to move on.

Please, Putin is more realistically going to be a Tzar than end up following the spirit of Democracy. Its like putting a goat infront of a lion than blindly swearing the lion will never ever eat that goat.

Do I actually care who runs Russia or if it's democratic? No. Everyone gets what he deserves.

All I care, is that my government and our allies be watchful. Russia behaves despotic and has Nuclear Weapons (and so have others). I don't trust those guys. Unfortunately the West didn't show any cojones in declining Georgias wish to join our alliance to be secure from this behemoth.

But those guys live in a world where only strong gestures and macho-like behavior counts (as you see in their ceremonies).

Be watchful friends, be watchful. Don't forget they used to be a threat to Europe or even controlled parts of it for four decades. And they still would do, if modernization of their army wouldn't have been too expensive (and you don't have resources with an inefficient and destructive communist tyranny).

    in the other news, 1991.

US / Britain / whoever invade other countries and kill their citizens, while Russia "despotically" dares to put peacekeepers in order to prevent local conflicts around its own borders. please do yourself a favor and read a book or something.
