I think it should put units with firearms.
They should be a short but devastating and very lentra recharge and with little ammunition, it would be very interesting.

The problem is, there's no gunpowder shooting animation. And, as proved by the Napoleonic: Total War team, the AI does not handle gunpowder well in RTW.

    Ragnos you respond as follows:
    Ogniem i Mieczem: Total War

This mod is the same as the Napoleonic TW but if you have campaign, or even units of people who throw a ball that exploit, this comes in a pack alongside the immortal Persians, you can search in the area of downloads, even in one the post of King Louise Assurbanipal creator of the mod europe TW, said that now is not open his campaign referring to mod but in a second time if you will.

LOTR, I hope you take into account this order to add units with firearms, serious something great.

I would have thought its pretty straightforward. Just make a unit of crossbowmen (like we already have), but skin them with guns, then we can add new sounds and animations. The AI should handle them just like a normal ranged unit like slingers or archers.

That could be possible...would we be able to reskin the bolts to look like bullets?

Just don't forget guns won't work in Rain or Snow weather.
However, it is more easier to train solider to use guns then crossbow.

I'd like to see more turkish units, they're my favourite eastern faction and it would be good to see them having more unique units. btw, in the first picture, the guy labelled '3'; what unit is he? He looks more Anglo Saxon than middle eastern lol.

contary to common belief, many turcomans or nomadic turks would wear heavy mail armor sometimes when serving as foot soldiers, and would wear swift/light armor when on horses or serving as light infantry

these are easy things,we can add more gunpowder units, but not alot of them,we must not forget RM Time frame, the rifle men should be the earlier version like early janissary with rifles,we shouldnt make them complicated.

i prefer we use some gunpowder units from other mods that cotains them,NTW will not be a good choice for us their units are great, but they are not suitable for our frame,as i said before,we need gun units look simple and early fashioned.

any one have suggestions about some gun units that we can use?

The unit (Saxon Warriors) from "The Crusades" mod would make a really cool Saxon Huscarl for the English faction. I read that you already have his permission to use his material so it would be a nice addition to RomeMedievalMod.

It'd be better as a Danish Huscarl, since this mod starts after the Norman conquest of England.

You're right , I didn't check the starting date for the Early Campaign. They still could be the Varangian Guard in the Early Campaign or even Mercenary Huscarls looking for work after their defeat in 1066. (It's one of my favorite units.)

About units and such, Are we going to implement any 'reforms' allowing the construction of gunpowder units, and more heavily armoured units etc?

    Hi,

The exodus of Saxons to Byzantium from Norman England continued well after 1100AD, and a good-sized fleet of Saxons left England in the late 1000's after the Norman Conquest and this could not have occurred without the Normans' blessing, as the Normans were glad to see the 'troublemakers' leave. Also, many of the Saxon nobility and commoners supported 1 or 2 post Hastings/Conquest Danish invasions/major raids on Norman England, and it was after these incidents that the defranchisement of the Saxon nobility occurred in earnest as prior to this, the Normans were treating the Saxon nobility as equals or near equals in order to unify the country and stop insurrections.

Vanilla METW1 and VI and Broken Crescent and End of Days (EoD) and METW2 use many historically accurate troop and ship type names.

If possible, I would just snatch some UI card models from METW1-VI for many of the buildings, maybe just do some easy alterations to some buildings but even that wouldn't be necessary as the vanilla ones are OK.

    Chris

PS: Colors of Crusader crosses on surcoats, shields and flags; England originally used mainly white crosses but this changed to red sometime during the Hundred Year's War, France originally used mainly red crosses but this changed to white sometime during the Hundred Year's War, Flanders and the Flemish seemed to have used green crosses in the main, Germans of course seem to have used mainly black as the Teutonic did but this may not have been true for the rest of the lay (non-religous order) Germans, the Spainiards used varying colors for crosses but red is probably best to use in a generic manner, etc. take your pick. The green Flemish crosses though are a definite eye-catching bit of eye-candy.
