    Default What's your economic stragety?

Well, after playing the Western Roman Empire(Empire West), on Rio's, afew times I'm starting to get a hold on my economy. When I first started I would jump insanely into mass debt, going up to -50,000 in afew turns, without even recruiting anything. Loseing a city would only make that debt worse.

My stragety is pretty simple. I would send excess troops to rebellious cities, while building cheap ways to counter unhappiness, and try and get trade rights/ceasefires with everyone.

Anyother troops I have would be combined into an army that would move against my enemies. Which basically means I would blitz those against me, and have to use great stragety to prevent high casualties, and usually massacreing any citise I take.

Now, I know theres alot of improvements I'm missing but I havent been playing that long in. Still combating my nearby enemies and making sure Italy doesnt burst into mass rebellion.

Though what strageties do you guys use? It might help someone else out or open more options for others to consider, includeing yourself.

Hi Forsworn, This from the 432AD Campaign? Bulgar Slayer has a very good post on a guide for wre. I think though for realism he played battles on med, which made sense when he explained, but his tactics and econ strategy is dead on. It is very much dark age approach.

Make sure to guard your capitals and its woth the effort to capture them, they are economic and militay prizes. Also at the start of the game keep an eye on your generals unit costs. They are very expensive to maintain.

Just make sure your paying with the Expansion and the fixes patch too for better play. The next version, Beyond Roman Glory, will have much less ahistorical chaos at the start(but still much difficulty righting the ship) and more realism in dealing with trying to maintain and build an empire. esp.. the Romans factions. But other factions will come swarming in much sooner than before

No, I play'd the 463 AD(I think that was the date, will have to load it up later) one. I also have the expansion and eagerly await the next one(Beyond Roman Glory). Thanks for the guide aswell, I'll use it as a reference.

cool...enjoy I do recommend though the fixes too because i targeted the at start chaos rebellions(and again in the upcoming mod) for the wre and ere and many other significant additions such as the proper draco textures.
