    Default Agents? Navy?

    In my 2 runnig campanges the ai has never build agents exept merchants. No spys, no assasins no priests or imams and no diplomats.
    And it seems like the rebels is the only ai controled player who builds up an navy oO.
    And they have a large fleet .

    Im pretty sure the Priest issue has been talked over before. Was it that only the Catholic factions never made any Priests? Well, im my current Polish Campaign, Lithuanian has plenty of Priests. But they're Pagan. As for Assassins and Spies, I don't know.

    Pirates (Rebel Navy) are very common. Annoyingly common. You can change the spawn rate for them somewhere in your Medieval II Directory, and someone will probably provide a direct instruction. All you need to do is lower that rate and hey presto, less Pirates. Also, I don't think that other nations are not building Navies, Novgorod has a few around me.

    have you installed the 6.1 patch?

    I've noticed more AI controlled catholic priests since installing the patch - enough to have a Pope election w/out any of my cardinals getting a look in.

    also seeing a few more spies and assassins.

    pirates -fun aren't they. and not uncommon in medieval times!

    Yes 6.1.
    The pirates are not the problem, i can handle them. (but why they spawn only around danemark just to wander down to sizili :hmmm
    The problem is, when i wrote the first post, i was the only one with a navy...
    Now Venice and the Templars build some ships too. I think 6, but there are 15 pirateships on the map. But no one else...
    Now i have searched the map a second time. With the all seeing eye . No AI assasin and no AI spy anywhere. There are arround 2 or 3 new build Imam and 5 new build catholic priests. No pagan priest and none orthodox ai priests.
    The campainge I am talking about is not that old, some of the startingunits are alive. (so ~ 8 catholic and 5 islamic are alive)
    There are a few more then 0 but far less then in 5.1 or without mods. And no new build diplomat...
    But merchants are builded like hell...

    And in the moment there are >10 heretrics on the map. And no one who will take them out. I think some citys will get lost in the future

    TBH I don't know enough about the game mechanics to know what controls the spawn rate of AI controlled spies assassins and priests.

    It's possible that the AI regions have sufficiently high enough religious buildings that they don't bother recruiting priests?

    that said there may be a case for another slight increase in the spawn rate for these characters as I feel they do add something to the game.

    in my game there is no pope and all the cardinals died.

    In my campaign even at turn 225 (approx) I still get papal elections so some other factions are recruiting priests. (Just not as many as me.) (mind you OKT, Portugal, Scotland, HRE and Aragon are all destroyed so not so many catholic factions can recruit priests!)

    seen some assassins and spies but not very many.

    Rebels 12 (I've taken out some fleets the rounds before)
    Kiev Rus 4 (in one Fleet )
    Imperial 1

    Me (Norway) 4 (recruit just when needed and disband when not needed anymore ).

    And a Princess can start with 10 charm

    Ok, now I know what's going on.
    125x I got the "you have the most money" message. I had ~800 gold...

    This means, all the other nations are in the reds with there money .
    And at Ireland and England I see why.
    Ireland only capured the little iland, but they hat 3 full stacks. On made of light cav and inf and the other ones where made of this mailed knight like units with an unkeep of 300 per turn...
    And England only holds England and Wales and 3 citys in north France. But at my border (I killed the Scotts ) they have 6! full stakes made of man at arms and mailed knights.
    With the other nations it is the same. They build up their armys until they have spend all their money.

    I know in SS they get a huge amount of cash every round. But it doesn't work.
    Is it posible, to make a script that will force the ai to have a + every turn of, lets say 10% of the money they earn?. So they will build up the empire and they will build agents and ships.

    Another thing I've noticed.

    The AI likes to keep priests and imams inside its settlements, especially if they are in danger of being besieged. So they may there, you just don't see them on the campaign map.

    In my current M/M late era french campaign, I'm seeing AI controlled spies, assassins, diplomats, priests, merchants, imams and princesses. plenty of pirate ships too - but that's not unrealistic.
