Default Province rebelling to my side, this was new

    Hi All

Playing as France at peace with everyone (Early days.....) I recieved a message at start of the turn saying basically:

The people of X (It was the city west of genoa) have rebelled against their masters the people of genoa and now are part of your empire!

Wow I thought, then saw I'm at war with genoa, something probably neither they nor I wanted. I'm not complaining about it, it was something I had never seen before.

Anyone else had this happen? Is it part of the SS6.1 engine?

I was playing as Novgorod, and one of the Holy Roman Empire's city rebelled and turned on my side...It was a mile away from all of my settlements. :hmmm:

It occurs. Even in Vanilla I believe.

Usually it happens when a city that used to be held recently by another faction or is culturally very similar, in which case the game manages to give the settlement to that faction.

The only downside here is that this usually leads to instant war between the two factions (not much an issue with Genoa, since when are you not at war with them).

I never ever had this happen in my campaigns. How does this work? How does the game determine to which faction the region goes?

Weird, although it's a blessing. I love battlefields in that area.
I guess the Genoese people were tired of being Genoese lol.

that city would be marseilles. never seen that before... but nice to know it can happen.

kinda on the same note... ive noticed the ai is alot more willing to part with cities during diplomacy in 6.0... especially the ones that are "traditionally" your... almost every game i play as england for example, the scots or norwegians usually get to york right before i do... but im always able to get them to just give it over to me.
