Well, I've played The Rajput States, but I have noticed they have no "priest" on the campaign map, will this be included in a later release, or will it stay?![]()

You most want for the version to get priest

Oh crikey. So we will have Brahmin priests who will speak with hoarse dry accents and speak Aranglish.
"Salaam alaykum!"
"I serve the faith!"
"Inshallah, I shall konteenyoo in the morning!"
"WHO HAS REJECTED SHARI'AH?"
"HE SHALL SUFFER THE HUDŪD!"
"THE APOSTATE MUST DIE!"
Or... everything will be silent and without voice ins.
I've never seen priests for any factions. Am I missing something?
Yeah I'll give them priests in 1.1. Kyps too. Not 100% sure about Makuria, but them too probably (some CTD issues with the African culture + priests).
Don't the Makurians have a less than orthodox strain of Christianity? They are isolated from the rest of the Christian world it seems like. I don't see how a Makurian priest and a Jerusalem priest would preach the same scripture.
It almost works as a differentiating factor for them to not have traditional priest units.
Edit: Meh, that could probably be said for some other factions too.
They wouldn't; they're Orthodox, or at least for the purposes of the game (I think?!?!) In history, their head religious leader was the Patriarch of Alexandria (again, IIRC) and they were Coptic Christians, like the Armenians. But I don't think BC has Coptic as a religion so I'm pretty sure they're Orthodox.. it's been a while since I've played as them.
I thought the general consensus from Hindus is that you cannot convert, but must be born a Hindu through re-incarnation. Other groups say all world religions are valid and so conversion is unnecessary.
Hinduism does not support conversion because its not a missionary religion. but people who convert to Hinduism by themselves are not rejected.
so probably in the game the priest can claim the people convert by themselves; while all they(the priests) do is to tend to the well-being of the existing Hindu populus.
Hey Arjun, what is the closest equivalent in hinduism of a priest or a preacher? Like what are "sages"/"wise men" called in Sanskrit/Hindi?
Swami/स्वामी, meaning "owner of oneself", is the most commonly used word for members of monastic groups, i.e. monks, it's probably the closest to priest you'll get.
How about guru(teacher)? Or sadhu? He could have an interesing naked moddel...![]()
I though Gurus were a later non-Hindu development?
My knowledge of Indian history is sketchy at best.
By the way, how much is the Indian campaign going tochangedimproved? I know the mod will go deeper into the sub-continent. Any err tidbits? Please...
Who cares if we don't learn from History, its bloodly interesting.
Too much weird stuff happens for god not to exist
Ladies like superior firepowerliterally and metaphorically
England>Scotland and rest of the world, only the Welsh come even close.
Sketchy at best... You thought guru applied to crazed-raving-Rael-style guru? You can read the article in my previous post for some enlightenment, but I'll just quote that
2000BC isnt so modern to meThe dialogue between guru and disciple is a fundamental component of Hinduism, established in the oral traditions of the Upanishads (c. 2000 BC).![]()

I though gurus (in the way most would think of them) would be more akin to being an ancillary for generals, I dunno, it's hard to judge, most of the terms are interchangeable.
Well, juging from the eaning of the two words in sanskrit, teacher and wise-one, I'd do the opposite, guru(teacher) for priest and swami for anc. Guru are teachers, spreaders, not proselits like priests... But there are hindu priests anyway, who are neither gurus nor swami : Brahmin(not those crazy two headed cows!)/Brahman, also called Vipra or Dvija.
