Default SS6.1 Campaign AI impressions: do you get backstabed at all?

    Hello,

Everything about modified Lusted's CAI in SS6.1 is great: good garrisons, border patrols, bigger stacked concentrated armies, etc.

Only one thing remain that's been griping me since 5.1 - do you even have to care/fear at all about AI backstabing you?

In the latest UAI (1.6 I think) for example, you have to be very carefull to properly garrison and reinforce your borders even if allied ones and that thing of uncertainty was very cool and exciting (kept you on your toes all the time).

Now in this AI, I make an alliance and don't even care about friendly borders, cause AI doesn't seem to be backstabbing at all.

That's what I noticed when playing Lithuania in ss6.1. Made alliances with Poland and Kievan Rus and off I go to conquer some Novgorod, without even worrying about my back borders (very lightly garrisoned).

So what are your impressions and experiences concerning backstabs of this CAI?

Played a few Late campaigns lately my opinion is that the current Ai is useless i never get attacked by full stacks it never attacks me an i just get to do what ever i want not much of a challange the only way i found to get some decent challange is if u play 1 of the smaller factions then the Ai attacks u but if u where to play any1 else its kinda passive

Personally i think its a great improvement that the AI when allied doesnt backstab, now alliances are a great strategic advantage as they should be!!

I'm finding that backstabbing doesn't occur on M/M but because the AI is more belligerent generally, you can only maintain alliances with fewer factions as your allies often start fighting each other. Neutral factions can and do attack without warning.

(What I do find is that in the early years of a campaign you get lots of offers of alliances and trade which I accept -but not all of them will last once the campaign proper gets going.)

The ai used to backstab like retard anyway instead of rushing your capital with a stack they blockade one of ur ports then sue for peace

I think the ai is at its best ever atm

LOL yeah and sometimes it can happen with really random factions, i.e. turkey blockaded by norway (funny at first, really annoying later on)

playing as early campaign genoa now and more than a hundred turns into the game. haven't had an ally who's backstabbed me. i was practically allied with all the catholic kingdoms (except sicily).

then i tried to assassinate teh pope, got caught, and everyone broke off with me

Txs for insightful replies everyone, seems I'll stick with Lusted's CAI for my ongoing ss6.1 campaign; while next one I'll play with uai 1.6, compare both and choose which suits better for me...

Anyway what about ceasefires - is it easy to sign one (LCAI) if you're fighting on many fronts?

Ha port blockade wars were also in RTW, so fcking annyoing.. I was praying that someone makes AI that NEVER blocks port unless the factions is ALREADY at war.. and SS team did it ^^

Well I'm not talking about those illogical backstabs with AI blocking ports for no reason (those were very annoying indeed), but rather subsequencial ones, where you garrison your border with ally very lightly and get knife in your back (reasonable backstab). UAI has them, but I kinda miss them in ss6.1

I like the AI, it seems much more realistic to me. You can count on your allies, unless your reputation falls very low by being a complete b*stard...

My thoughts are my AI does not backstab enough, there is code in it that stops back stabbing in a lot of situations there should be a better chance of it happening in. Changing that wouldn't mean that trusted allies would backstab you more as I wouldn't change that, but would probably make things more interesting.

My interest has drifted back to AI modding, so who knows, you might see an updated version of my AI soon.

right now i play with a few rules an thats when i attack an enemy i do the retard attack port that way the AI goes to war with me an i cant just rush 2 or 3 settlements without a fight the ohter rule is that i never reload evrytime i get my ass kicked or if i done something stewpid

Thanks for that, looks like they rearranged some of the code, added in some stuff to increase difficulty of the player, and I can see exactly how much they increased the invade prioirty numbers by.
