My Norway Campaign

Well started playing with Norway a few days ago. Here's a pic:

I'm at war with Scotland (= excommunicated) and as you can see, Denmark is no more since I killed their leader while they besieged Kalmar.
There's currently a crusade on Frankfurt (HRE), which will be taken next turn.
The problem I'm facing atm is money, I'm always near bankrupcy. Any advice on this?
And I still don't have an ally, which one would you advice for me to take?

As far as money, those regions up there have too many castles. Convert some like Uppsala, Bergen, and Skara to towns, that will help grow your funds. Taking Arhus will help siginifcantly too.

Uppsala is allready a castle but will try to convert Bergen and Skara, thx for the advice.
I've just taken Arhus, and going to siege Lund in a few turns.

For real though, england. The only land I actually took over in my last norway game(gave up due to byg issues) was scottland, and having the english as pals has meant the region is peaceful and profitable.

I'd suggest an alliance with the germans to secure your southern doorsteps and start taking over the british islands or go for novogrod. But the Brits are better - when you conquer them you will have no money problems at all.

Well, Scotland is excommunicated and attacking me so they are an obvious target. Next to that I need to have Dublin under my control in order to win, so Ireland will have to die too.

I don't think taking an alliance with HRE is a smart choice since they are excommunicated and are rapidly losing regions, here's a pic:

Poland then. And either france or england, depending on how much of the isles you want.

Unrelated: I just had a unit of norse raiders go through broken down door of a wooden castle. A unit of rebel norse raiders blocked them, i hit shieldwall formation and several of the enemy were thrown into the air/knocked down. When they got up the front rank of the wall hacked them to pieces
