    Icon5 The remove trait CTD

    Hey!

I've been playing a few campaigns of TLR and I really like the economical setup. I had a sweet campaign going with Venice, I brought the crusades down on myself after conquering Italy and nothing else and had just got heavy mail when the end of turn CTD came crashing down.

I checked the log and tried the add_money Slave, 40000, and I think it's the trait remover, not the negative income thing...

So I guess what I really want to know, cause after reading bug reports here for longer than I'd like to spend my time on I can't seem to come to a conclusion, is my campaign screwed beyond repair no matter what I do? I probably have saves going back maybe 5 turns or so but I doubt it will help eh? Is the only fix for this to start a new capaign with the leadership trait stuff edited out?

Thanks for a great mod anyway guys, easily the one I've enjoyed the most. I've been thinking about Deus lo Vult but got REALLY turned off by that excessive micro I read about like not being able to build at all without governors... argh. Think I might try out darth ages for a while. Seems like you guys have started this project up again though which sounds great, good luck, I'm looking forward to your release!

    Cheers!

Hmmm its hard for me to remember but Ill try and help.

It could the be the rebels money problem, try giving them some. More likely its the trait problem.

The common recourse is to go back a few turns to a previous save and try again. Usually it works itself out.

When you do start the campaign I would remove the leadership traits.

I know there was a few more fixs but I can't seem to remember them sorry.

I have heard about darth ages, the mod leader does some really good ai work. Maybe they fixed some of the problems, I don't know. Have fun playing, despite its bugs TLR has the best economic setup around.

It is likely to help. Just go back at lest 1-2 turns and "do something else" than what you did when you got the CtD.

Even minimal things can help. Like moving an army or whatever. Try for example moving some or all of the garrison units of the town where the character who'll cause the CtD sits, if he's in a town. Since most traits are apparently decided upon by a pseudo-random number generator which is calculated from a number of parameters of the game as it currently stands, this can help. (Try this with quicksaving before an assassination - sometimes when you reload you'll botch the next assassination ALWAYS, no matter how easy it would seem. This suggests that the "virtual dice roll" is not random)

The trick is to get the AI to react to your move - even if you don't see the reaction -, and force some variable to another value.

It does not work sometimes with generals coming of age, because their traits may be determined by their fathers', and if the offending trait has a high enough chance to apply, you're screwed.

    Thanks for some good feedback!

I'll play around a little from my old saves and see if I can salvage the campaign by moving troops/charachters and whatnot, or failing that going back a turn or two.

My experience with botching assasinations/spy missions etc is that you can change the outcome by letting another agent "use up" the botched try, sort of using that randomly generated number, and then you get a new one which might work. What is the technical term? The game saves the random seed with saves or something like that? Anyways, thanks for your input.
