    Hi all there is a poll for Zuma mod 3

    I have would say that north africa need more action in SS...all the other areas have plenty of factions and places..but north afric sucks...there need to be one faction or something in the middle..or somewhere...sicily kinda gives the moors someone to fight...moors are ok..they have spain and sicily to deal with..but eygpt....freakin steam rolls everyone...there needs to be some faction in the middle..or someone to give eygpt a two sided fight...instead of crusade.

    If I may, I would go with the Hammadids/Zirids over your two options. Why? They were based around Modern Tunisia. This allows this Muslim faction to either challenge the Almohads by moving West, challenge the Fatimid's by moving East, or challenge the Normans of Sicily by moving North. Their existence complicates the middle Mediterranean in many ways.

    Like seemingly everyone else, I won't be missing the Irish. I am wondering...would anyone miss Portugal either? I realize that unlike Ireland that they are a "vanilla" faction, but all they ever seem to accomplish is to keep the Spanish factions weak by their expansion.

    What would you do to give them starting areas? Previously they would have had Timbuktu and Dongola, respectively, but those (and all regions far south of the sea) are gone.

    Also, which faction would you be removing?

    actually id add both an get rid of the cumans there pretty lame and the need for both mali an makuria is very important. altho its true the moors have to deal with spain an portugal the almost always win an for some reason sicilly usually goes after genoa an the pope instead of the moors anyways thats just my opinion.

    Well I think any African faction will do to be honest and I would say get rid of Ireland. this is a great idea by the way

    It could be argued that 3 Catholic factions in Spain is overkill -- Portugal, like Ireland, could probably be represented either by a beefed up 'rebel' presence or by a Free Peoples non-playable faction...

    Precisely. The introduction of Aragon means that Castille can't really expand much to the east. With Portugal to the west, and the Moors to the south, they are boxed in. I'd like to see the Spanish factions do better in most games, but I've honestly never seen it.

    I disagree. That is a real life situation. Portugal, Castille and Aragon both expanded south. (Reconquista anyone?) You can still see that today, with the difference that Aragon and Castille are united now. The pressure of those 3 factions kicked the Moors out eventually. I would like to see that more often. Those 3 factions should have better relations, attacking the Moors all three together. Don't remove Portugal please.

    The Moors would really need to be strengthened to have any chance to survive a three-pronged assault. They are generally among the earliest factions out as is.

    I'd rather see the templars removed tbh, with the Zirids added in their place, KoJ can replace 'em in early campaign easily enough, and with both the Zirids and Makuria added together it'll make both the moors, egypt, KoJ (due to it's main enemy being egypt) and most other factions bordering them all much more interesting. As it is KoJ has no *real* diplomatic options to use against egypt,just war, diplomacy i think is a very important part of the game, it turns (metaphorically) a 2D campaign into a 3D one, in that it makes it that much deeper and more detailed. The Zirids and Makuria will both give some interesting diplomatic options to siciliy, spain, portugal, and to a greater extent KoJ. As for portugal, i do agree that spain could do with a little beefing up, but if it comes down to templars or portugal, id definately prefer to keep portugal.
