    Default Where is my Billmen??

I just started a new campaign (SS6.1) with England in Late Era... 5 turns into the game but I just can't find how I can make Billmen? I looked all barracks in building browser it's just not available. Was that changed with the Byg III or Real Recruit? Sorry for the dumb question.. :hmmm:

Yes, it was changed by RR and BGR. You have to wait some turns till you get acces to billmen and other cool units. Also you have to have a War Counsil member in city or fortress were you expect to recruit more advanced units.

is it possible to get 6.1 with real combat BUT without real recruitment?

Ok I will do some reading, not sure if I will like it yet. For those wondering, the new change can be found here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106060

I think it is a bug with BygIII as I can not recruit elite units no matter what I do and I followed all the guide lines. Heck, I can not even recruit a feudal knight, lol.

Real Recruitment added uncoventional triggers for most units. Now some units only appear after a certain year (set up by event counters). Nothing is broken, check export_descr_buildings for recruitment options

i checked the barracks development on all factions and there are some units just missing.

mostly they are late era units.

i am not very familiar with RR and bygIII, so if this is normal then all is good.

playing currently with scotland all i can recruit are highlanders(which i find pretty great) and in citys spear militia and thats it. thus the texture for border horse are a little messed up, but that is probely a problem with the way i installed ss.

Guys, just check the RR and BGR description and everything would get clear
RR means that u can't get (for ex.) chivalric knights in the begining, you have to wait smth like 60 turns till u got access to them, but BGR allows you to recruit them only when you have one of generals with War Council Member trait in that castle.

TWmadman, RR means RC, because in medieval ages there were only few heavily-armoured warriors on the field, most of them where light infantry. With RC/RR knoghts replenishment time is very high, so most armies aren't fullfilled only with knights (esp. in first 100 turns).

I hope you are not saying that it is "normal" to only be able to recruit basic militia units no matter what you do. I had religion to 100% with my king in the citadel etc.. and could NOT recruit anything but militia type units after 110 turns. I hope that is clear to you.

OK I read the BYG III but still can't figure how to get my simple Billmen... they're not really elite?? before the 6.1 patch they were buildable right from the start.

So I have my king in my most developed city and castle, but the option for Billmen is still not there... not even greyed out... and according to Real Recruitment category chart, Bill Milita is listed under Urban which is the lowest level and could be recruited by any generals... can someone tell me how long I have to wait for it?

Bill milita is similar to pike milita and hand gunners. In my 5.1 campaign with RR I get access to those kind of milita after more than 120 turns. As Schweizergarde mantioned before it'd be better to check recruitment conditions in export_descr_buildings

Billmen are available after the "New Era Begins" event, at about year 1300-1310. Historically this is (very roughly) when they began to appear.

    PB,

If I changed my desc_strat file to start in the year 1350 would that make my units able to be recruited right from the beginning?

I will try this and report back.

i wouldnt do that if i were you. try just editing the export_descr_buldings.txt and removing the event line at the end of every unit. i think it would work not sure.

I tried the change of date but it had no affect, lol.

Lester, can you give me an example of the "event" line to delete?

    recruit_pool "Billmen" 1 0.5 2 0 requires factions { england, } and event_counter new_era_begins 1

    delete the "and event_counter new_era_begins 1"

Dont you know how hard it would be to find that many men called Bill? maybe put the unit size lower, then you need to find less Bills.

Maybe the name isnt as popular in the late era as it is in the first.
