Everytime I start up my mod it crashes 5 seconds afterward. I can upload the mod file. Please go to that link to see my other posts.

Re: New Faction Problem
Hi,
First of all I will asume you are following the guide made by DukeofSerbia (the only guide) on how to add a new faction from nothing. In the early days when I first started adding factions to mods I found it very difficult. I followed the guide on how to add factions exactly, AND I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WOULD NOT WORK. It turned out that most of my problems were caused by tiny mistakes in the export_descr_buildings.txt.
Even now with my modding experience if I add a new faction and there is an unspecified problem, the first file I look for errors is in the export_descr_buildings.txt. If there is 1 typo or space missing the game will not load up. I advise anyone trying to add a new faction to keep things as simple as possible. I would add only 1 unit say peasants to the new faction. You add the rest later after you have a working faction. Using my example you just added peasants to your new faction. Now you must add this information into the MODELDB file. Then add your first unit to units and buildings. Also for other probelms always use the system.log. This will tell you sometimes if something is missing. Best of luck and if you have anymore questions just ask.
Dave

Re: New Faction Problem
Sounds like a fun little problem. I had to add 30 factions from scratch, and because there's so many files to mess with, it can get really easy to make tiny mistakes. Hopefully, yours is just one faction added at a time, rather than nine.
I looked at your other post. I don't know if you solved that problem or not. If not, from that error message, my first inclination would be to suggest that one of your EDB entries is syntactically (I think that's the correct spelling) wrong. Look for a tiny error in the EDB at line 49. My guess is you either forgot to terminate the line with ", }" (that is, comma, space, right curly-brace). I had one of those errors before. It could also be that you incorrectly spelled the name.
From my experience, when you have the failure to load up, it often has to do with one or more improperly modded files. The biggest culprit is often a missing entry for text/expanded, but there could be other errors.
Did you modify descr_characters and descr_models_strat, including the standard rome models sections? Could you be trying to import strat models from one of the Kingdoms mods into vanilla, because that causes some crashes? Did you add descr_names for your faction and their text entries in the text folder? Those are the most common file errors I experienced because they are the longest files.
Try telling us a little bit about the faction you are adding. Perhaps you could post the faction's entry from descr_sm_factions so we can take a look at the baseline data that should be present. You never know. If it's an import from another Kingdoms, you could be calling a culture that doesn't exist.
Thanks,
ADM
